Okay, so funny new behavior of Sammy’s #51. Just yesterday, he started thumping just once at the entrance of the treat closet when I open it, just before I give him a treat. Is this like a celebratory thump? or more of a, darn woman get that treat over here faster kind of thump?

He NEVER thumps. He only thumped once at my friend when she ran into his pen right when she got in the door, and that was a thump WHILE he was running away from her. He’s never thumped at me, except for these two separate treat related incidents yesterday. I almost didn’t know what it was till I looked down at the bunny between my feet and realized it was him.

Oh, as a note, I have been known to accidentally lightly kick into him while he’s halfway in the treat closet, since I’m trying to get his treats and he’s acting so excited and running around everywhere. Do you think he’s thumping now as a warning that he’s in there? lol

Eddie would get all excited and run around the room, thumping when he was going to treats sometimes. Especially if it was banana or an orange because I rarely eat either one. So I think it’s definitely possible it was happiness. lol

It’s cute now but just wait!!!!!! Stormy started chomping on his cage bars when he wanted a treat. If I take too long or try to say no, he will make a “scratchy scratch scratch” noise in the corner of his cage. He’s a real stinker and he will just do it at random, usually at least once a day and then the other 2 get all excited because they know when he asks for a treat I rarely say no and everyone gets noms (even if I’m really busy doing something else, I have no willpower ). This has earned him the nickname ” instigator”.

Thanks guys! Yeah I think it was either admonishing or happy thumping LOL he didn’t do it yesterday so we’ll see if it reoccurs. He definitely does the cage chewing a lot like you said Stormy does though.

I’m pretty strict with Sammy’s treats. I’ll break a slice of freeze-dried strawberry into fourths and only give him one-fourth. Then he looks at me like… ‘that’s it?’.

                    Ooh, team thumping! Lol MB.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’s complaining at the service. You’re clearly not getting the treats fast enough.
