Clover, 8-1/2 years old, has always been a chewer. I had to quit using Carefresh litter and forbid access to any cardboard or paper, as the girl does not know when to stop. It’s like crack cocaine to her. So now I give her hay and sticks.

Well, this last week or two I notice that she wants to gnaw on sticks more than usual, and still likes hay. But then by last night she was going off her feed, didn’t even want veggies. So I got out the Oxbow Critical Care which I keep on hand, mixed up my special formula of it, warm water, and a little petromalt. Today she’s doing better, and we’ll keep on with that and keep an eye on her.

I just wondered if anyone’s heard of a bunny having an increased desire to chew on sticks/wood and if that’s a sign of craving more fiber because a stasis is coming on.

Have you had her teeth checked? That’s what I would do in the case of a change in eating behavior.
