This is sort of a spin-off to the “Bunny Wish List” thread. What sort of things and pets would you buy? Post pics for fun.
My first step would be to buy a nice little country house on a horse property. Nothing grand or fancy, just a place to keep a few horses with a place to ride. Maybe I’d spoil myself and make a small indoor riding ring. Of course my rabbits would have a very big room to call their own.
Next Purchase: My very own Medieval Warhorse (aka Friesian):

Then a Gypsy Vanner:

And of course, I would indulge Winnie, and get her a gorgeous boyfriend of the same breed (Morgan) that I could train saddleseat:

As for cats, I’m down to 3 cats now and I really want another. I would have to get an Egyptian Mau. Seeing as though they run a couple of grand per cat it’s unlikely that will happen unless I hit it rich. I would also adopt several cats and kittens that have been at the local shelter for a long time.
Egyptian Mau:

I’d buy a really nice truck for my bf. He’s always wanted a big truck and that way he can haul all my grain and horse stuff around for me. For myself I’d probably go with a black Mini Cooper. They’re so cute and better for the environment.
I would financially sponsor a lot of rabbits via rabbit rescues. I would love to have more rabbits, of course, but it’s hard enough to try to give enough daily attention to 3 non-bonded buns. Of course, I could try to hire Petzy to come down and bond my trio. ![]()
And I would plan a trip to Jolly Ol’ London, England.
How about you?
ps. Wednesday is my lottery ticket day so I’m crossing my fingers.![]()
Wow, those horses are stunning! I’ve never even heard of either of those breeds you listed first. I don’t know much about horses at all…weird I suppose being from Texas.
I’m sure I would love to travel if I had a million dollars and hire a full-time person to care for my animals (cleaning up after them) and stuff while I travel.
WOW LPT
such pretty kitty
I’ll have to do mine after I get off this afternoon…
One thing though. I would give money to Ovarian Cancer research.
Beautiful horses! Can I come over and ride your Friesian? ![]()
I would get a nice horse property in my area – unfortunately that would use up well over half of my million dollars
With the leftover I would buy a nice warmblood and a horse for DH (just a nice quiet guy he could ride around – I still have to convince him that horses are a good idea!). I’d get a new car too, since my Civic is 10 years old. Oh, throw in a few dogs too!
It would be so great to get a house and just have it paid off though! That would leave us so much money to do other things and have horses on our current paychecks (including giving more money to the local rabbit and dog/cat rescues).
I’d give a lot of money to my family… they’ve sure given me a lot, phew!
Then I would want a bigger place with extra bedrooms so our friends could visit us.
Then I’d have a baby!!
In terms of animals, I would love to get a pet silver fox! They were the subject of Russian domestication breeding experiments, and are now for sale (at quite a hefty price of course…$6000!). sibfox.com/ga <– pictures and story here! I have a thing for foxes/wolf-like breeds…and I also love bunnies; I could see this being a problem in the future if I wanted both ![]()
A while ago, I decided that after I start working and have enough resources, I want to found/fund a bunny rescue in my area with a proper facility. Of course, the time this will happen will largely depend on when I get these college/medical school tuition bills paid off…this $$$$ would definitely help ![]()
I am right with you there on the horses! I love my horse to pieces- but I would be so tempted to get one or 2 more if money was not an issue. I would also LOVE a Friesan and a Grulla Quarter Horse.
As for where to keep the horses- my husband hates going to the barn and whenever I say “If I win the lotto I would buy a horse farm” he says “I would buy a horse farm and have someone else live there and manage it”. LOL. I guess that is what I get for marrying a city boy. But he does have a point- I would want someone else to do all the “dirty” work and maint work.
And I would buy a SUV to pull a brand new horse trailer! That is pretty high on my list. Otherwise I am buying my next vehicle as one that can pull a trailer and looking for a good used 2 horse trailer. I am nervous about driving it though- I usually prefer small vehicles and have never hauled a trailer before.
I would build an adventure theme park based upon a fantasy medieval setting, with dragons and orcs and really interesting things. The main place people would stay would be in an actual castle that was 99% period. The only thing that wouldn’t be is a 100% modern bathroom and probably modern insulation between the stonework.
Guests would be required to dress in period, carry around specially designed weaponry that were made out of foam but also had electronics built into them so that all combat could be resolved via a computer.
Oh, and I’d get my bunnies a new condo.
Elrohwen -I know what you mean re: it would be nice to have a house paid for! No Mortgage bills would be reeeeaaaalllly nice!!!!
MarkBun- that would be fun! I would love to dress up in medieval clothing!
LizzyKnittyBunny- Then I’d have a baby!! You don’t have to pay for those, silly!
I’d get myself a nice chunk of land with a good view here, and build myself a nice house, with a separate building I would use for a bunny shelter. I’d love to run my own rescue, as the RA and OHS here don’t have much room ![]()
I’d pay off student loans. Then give my parents some money. I’d buy a medium sized house and turn one room into a bunny room complete with a tile floor. But the bunnies would be free range. And yes, I’d get more bunnies. And a Papillon. I’d also buy a mini cooper. And I’d give some money to various charities.
FRIESIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s my dream horse/animal!!! *swoon*
First off, build my dream home. Long, one story (my 5 year old is disabled, so walker/wheelchair access is a must), huge open rooms, southern exposure with gigantic windows.
And on at least 10 acres with a big shop for hubby, a MIL cottage, a huge aviary for our parrots for sunny days, a small barn for horses, and at least an acre or two fully fenced for the dogs…a foot dug down, 6′ high and a foot overhang on top. Oh and of course at least an acre flat yard for the kids and a huge concrete area for my oldest to run around on/patio…and the rest fenced for the horse. Which would of course by my dream Friesian, gelding most likely.
I’m sure I’d also end up with another parrot (or two) and bunny. ![]()
Besides all that, get a fun car (Lotus? Supra?) so I’m not always stuck with hubby’s cars or my beast, sell our current Denali XL (aka Beast) and buy a new one and retrofit it so we can load a wheelchair in the passenger side for transportation, and um…wow, I can’t even think of anything else. Be happy with some savings I guess.
It’s fun to dream!
ETA One of my long time dreams is to have a wolf/hybrid sanctuary…I’d probably set more acreage aside for that, complete with top of the line fencing, dens etc.
Lotuses are a pain in the rear to get in and out of if you are not a tiny little person. A friend of my hubby’s has one, and my hubby can barely get in without bending over backwards.
Okay, my list:

And hope that they are divas/divos ![]()
I would pay for my education as a Medical Assistant and keep going to school for Surgical Tech or Lab Technician.
-Buy a house
-Travel to Europe
-Go to Hawaii with my boyfriend. I want to spread my mother’s ashes back in her hometown.
-Get Chacha a buddy (obviously)
-Buy my dad a condo/house
-Buy a Scion ![]()
-Take all my friends out to dinner
-Buy my dad finches, and supplies for him to build a birdcage
–GO TO HARRY POTTER WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all I can think of right now.
[EDIT] -Meet my BB buddies and exchange tips on rabbit care, throw a bunch of drinks back (
), eat food!!!!!!!!

I sat in one awhile back…the weirdest thing for me was how low the seat is. I think I can manage though for a Lotus, I’m pretty short lol.
My hubby builds race cars so I’m used to it. Ah if only…
first priority.
-get my girls spayed.
-add electricity and heating to the garage. (after i give my mom a couple grand sp she’ll let my basically “buy” the garage
)
-Pay off my moms house.
-lease a barn. (i already work at one doing all the “dirty work” in exchange for lessons, so i know how to properly look after one
)
-add a couple of boarders and buy a couple of horses for my self (going with you guys on the frisians & gypsy vanners, plus a clydesdale.. <3
– build another garage and start a rabbit rescue
-buy bunny food and a bunny fridge.
i think i’m all spent out.
if i werent though.
i’d add a doberman, rottie, great dane, pit bull (even though their illegal
) and an i guess to get my mom to agree an irish wolf hound for my her. more siamese cats, and possibly a snake or two.
I’d sell our house and cafe, move to the farm, set up a bunny rescue, and buy a round the world trip for my mum and dad. I’d go with them to Thailand, and then go off on my own to visit Lebanon again for a month…. Take darci to Dreamworld on the way home,
Then come home and live at the farm with all the rescue bunnies ![]()
if i had a million dollars… i’d build a tree fort in our yard… if i had a million dollars… you could help it wouldn’t be that hard
a barenakedladies moment
i’d rescue all the bunnies from the local shelter and get them all fixed, pay off the house, get a new car and take a long european vaca

our hs is horrible with bunnies isn’t it? i dont think that their qualified enough to look after them properly.![]()
Markbun- in your Medieval Theme park- would you have a scene from the Monty Python Holy Grail? You could rescue some white rabbits and have them take “shifts” working the scene (standing there looking cute)- and they could be pampered stars!!!!
I forgot to mention earlier that my phone ringtone is “If I had a Million Dollars” by Bare Naked Ladies!!!
I would not get more bunnies- as my 3 are enough. But I would have a room specially designed for them in my custom home. Something that is easier to clean, tile floors with throw rugs, and nice built in pens! Window seats for them- many levels, etc.

LizzyKnittyBunny- Then I’d have a baby!! You don’t have to pay for those, silly!
Babies are far from free!!
Some of our friends can retire 15 years early because they aren’t having kids.

oh i know ![]()
they are so proud of those enclosures that i think are horrible. true they are great for displaying bunnies but they are the exact opposite of a great bunny habitat. and then theres the use of pine shavings. *sigh* i personally deliver huge garbage bags of shredded paper there every time the office shredder is emptied. i realize they are working with limited funds but i think they could still make huge improvements with little effort. i think the trick is to slowly establish credability and get in there with some recommendations.
LOL on the babies. Who needs money anyway!
Hahaha!!! The Monty Python Bunny actors!!! That made me laugh out loud!
First of all, I’d buy a small log home with a few acres of land for myself. I’d build a huge greenhouse on that land.
Then, I think I’d build a small house for my bunnies. I’ve always thought it would be cute for them to have their own little house – then they’d not only be house rabbits, they’d have a rabbit house!
I think I’d go and buy/adopt a few more bunnies. I’d want a blue American rabbit, a big Californian rabbit, some type of large chinchilla-colored rabbit, and maybe a tiny Britannia Petite bunny. I would also start my own rabbit shelter.
I’d also start a small Betta fish tank and a large goldfish tank.
The rest of the money would either be donated or saved.
Oooh I thought of something else I would have…a saltwater fish tank! That I’d pay someone to take care of for me (cleaning, etc…I don’t do good with fish tanks I’ve found out). Muahaha!!!

What? babies effect your retirement age.. ?
Wait, never mind.. I guess a lot of it factors into it!!
Oh, and another one from my list..
A nice, flufy bed.
And a Chacha sized throne bed made with real sparklies on it (unedible, made with safe stuff, if that even exists)
Babies cost a fortune Britt
From the second they are born, til the day they finally move out with a job of their own, kids cost a fortune
It does affect retirement age, as people without kids can save more.
Note to self: just have bunnies. lol

I agree, they could make huge improvements, they just need to budget better. Most of the cats and dogs dont even get fixed… It is awful, my neihbor works there and works with the dogs with ‘bad attitudes’. They had a little black holland lop, he was nutered… My friend was so close to snatching him up for her kids for christmas, but changed her mind… If only, if only.. lol!
MB’s right – you save hundreds of thousands of dollars by not having kids! It’s pretty insane. Saving an extra $350k can definitely bump up your retirement age.
Of course,w ith how spoiled all my bunnies over my lifetime will be.. I likely won’t be saving much lol

I’m fine with just one ![]()
But who knows? I always want bunnies in my life!
