So Mocha and Lulu have been free range in my room for a week now and its been going great! I let them out in the morning and put them back in there cage at night.  So they are really only free range during the day. But there is the  problem, every night I try to bribe them in there cage with pellets, of coarse Mocha goes right in, But lulu is smart and now figured out when the pellets come out, she has to go in. So she runs in to her hidey houses trying to hide from me and I feel so bad making her go in her cage

Another thing is when I come in my room to let them out, Lulu races to the door and when I open it she runs out foot flicking at the condo!

She hates it in there, and I hate trapping her in there,  but, I don’t want her  crawling on my when I am trying to sleep at night ether.

I normally block my bed off during the day any ways so maybe it would work, but I don’t want to have to crawl over the pen to get out of bed.

        Any ideas?

        Thanks!

I don’t doubt that Lulu doesn’t LOVE it, but I think this is probably best for their safety, and your sanity. They already have better accommodations and more free range time than probably 90% of bunnies out there. Don’t view it as trapping her. Most people have to have some kind of containment for their rabbits. I need my buns to be penned at night. I prefer this also in case of an emergency, I know where they are and can retrieve them easily and quickly.

Also, Starting this week they will be getting play time out side of my room when I have time to let them out so they aren’t always in my room.

beka: Yes I think that is probably best…. I just feel so bad. :'(

Do not feel bad. Those two buns hit the bunny lottery when they got YOU as their owner. I couldn’t think of a better person to take care of them. :o)

That is such a nice setup. It’s your best so far~ I just love it. Seeing your pictures makes me wish I didn’t have carpet in the room I use for my rabbits. Beka is right: don’t feel bad! I mean what’s next? You give in to Lulu and let her out 24/7 and then she will want the whole house! you’ve got to draw the line somewhere, and this line is your sleep. That’s what I did with mine. Also, whenever you go away and need them to stay with a sitter, they have got to be used to be enclosed. It is in their best interest. Don’t let your rabbits tell you how things should be… you are the boss.

                        Another Q:

A few days ago, I took my bed down stairs when I had some friends over night, so I though I would let them play on my bed! ( My dad made the bed and there is ply wood on top of the bed frame. I hope you know what i mean.) I put a sheet on top of the ply wood, because it is not sanded down, and put a few hidey houses up there and they LOVED it! I always saw lulu flopped on her side up there! But I have blocked it of again and she got upset and started looking how to get over the xpen. then that night she left a huge  pile of poo’s and pee right next to the gray litter box “behind the blue house” the house rabbit society says :

Miz bun eliminates next to her litterbox because of some stress, eg, a break in her routine such as less or more running time than usual, visitors at home,
                        ect.

So I am thinking she did that to prove a point that she wanted to get on my bed. do you think I am right?

Don’t let her have spaces that she can’t always have. It will confuse her not just in litter habits but it will make her harder to manage.

ok thanks, she is fine now, she’s just a little stinker! She reminds me of a little kid winning for a toy they can’t have then throwing a fit! haha.

Well, I think your set up is *awesome*

Although you could just give it a shot and see what happens, if you felt really bad. Before we found out about Stan’s allergies, Remy used to sleep under the covers next to my feet. I won’t say we never had an accident… but they were very rare. Momo usually chose to sleep under the bed instead, but I think that’s mostly because she didn’t want to make the effort to hop up on the bed lol.

It is not always practical to have bunnies able to be free run in an area where you sleep.  It is more important that YOU get the sleep you need without bunny kisses during the night.  Plus- bunnies are mighty tempted to pee on beds and I would hate for that to be a deal breaker with your parents and not have them allowed to be free run in any part of the room at all (parents aren’t always reasonable when they see pets differently than we do).

That’s a really good point that I didn’t take into consideration. When Remy was sleeping with us, we were already married and living in our own place!

I know what you mean, Indy started out having a cage at night but I felt so bad putting him back he just got to be out all the time. Those little stinkers sure know how to put on the guilt trip on us don’t they!?

I love your new setup, it’s awesome and so clean and tidey! Do they love that bucket hidey hole thing you have? It looks neat!

I agree with the deal breaker like Katnip said about the bed….Mine like to dig in my bed and I have a crumby blanket on top so they can ruin it. Occasionally somebunny will pee on my bed too

I don’t trust her not to not pee on the bed, lol! It could be mocha but I don’t know why mocha would pee on top of lulu’s poo, and he has used the litter box before he was neutered.

maybe I should add a pen outside of there condo, but last time I did that lulu chewed the bars and she might pee and poo by the edge like she did by the bed.

Lintini: They LOVE the house! I got it at “bed bath and beyond” they had a very small pet selection but they had that for cats, It comes with a tunnel too. I almost got two and now I wish I did.

I am married and have my own house- but I still have to take my husband into account and what he will find acceptable. LOL I would have to imagine Griffin chewing thru his CPAP (breathing machine for sleep apnea) at night to be a deal breaker!
Griff is so “in your face”- the other night I had friends over and we were playing Super Mario- Griff and Schreoer were out of their pen for their exercise time- Griff jumped up on the couch and started lickng my friends husband who had fallen asleep. So he woke up to a bunny he had never really met before licking his bottom lip!

lol, exactly! They don’t sleep with us anymore since we found out about the allergies. Remy got on his hind legs and stared over the gate for a few days, but he doesn’t seem to mind anymore : D

Could you try blocking your bed off during the day when you’re gone, and while your home and at night let them up on the bed? Try it out on a weekend see how it goes.

yes… I think moonlightwolf does that.

Lwayne: I would but last time I let them on my bed and then blocked it off she peed next the pen.

She has been on my bed plenty of times and she LOVES to Binky on it! The only accident she has had on my bed was 1 poop, and it was because there was a loud noise and she got scared. So she is good with super vision, just don’t want her to pee again.

LOL!! I laughed out loud at her pooping because of the loud noise!!!!

Bee was really my problem on my bed, most likely because she was a naughty teenager bunny! She LOVED digging and really when I missed giving them their pellets in the morning, I would come home to pee on me bed. Of course I can’t be certain it was her but…Indy’s been really good about potty-ing in the box. Bee has been a very destructive teen. Although….Indy has ruined tons of things too.. I won’t ever forget now; I just got my new smartphone and I was on it’s headset talking to my friend and all of a sudden I couldn’t hear anymore. I looked down…and there was Indy. The cord was dangling and he bit it in half. Also…I was laying on my bed with my knees in the air with my cell phone charging and talking on it…Indy was binking all around me and running in between my legs….then my phone goes beee beee. Indy bit my charger in half. Gahhhhhh those 2 I swear!!!

Do you have a crumby blanket you could use on top just in case? That’s what I do.

Yeah I guess what I mean is make the transition slowly.. letting her up on your bed under supervision during “play times” and then back to having the bed penned off when you’re not home into on your bed at night when you’re sleeping (or trying to ).  If she continues to pee when angry, I would back off then.  (Vinegar works great of cleaning up pee, not that I’ve had to use it or anything ).

You don’t want to have to sleep in an xpen or under a shower curtain, but you do want to spoil your buns .

I am watching this thinking “This guy is nuts!” when in reality, I think we are ALL just a few bunnies away from sleeping on a cot. LOL…
