Last night was Noelle’s first trip to the vet, and the vet found that she has an ear infection. The vet gave me drops that I am supposed to squirt liberally in to her ear for seven days, and then we go back to the vet on the seventh day to check it out again. I wanted to ask if there is anything I can do to prevent further ear infections.

It could be that she has one randomly and it won’t occur again. I’ve heard that lops have a higher probability of ear infections (which makes sense) though neither of mine have had any issues.

I would ask the vet if there’s anything you can do. I certainly wouldn’t want to be cleaning in delicate ears without a vet telling me exactly what to do.

It could be random. I’ve heard also that lops have some ear issues.

My rabbits ear condition went wrongly diagnosed for months. She was officially diagnosed in November with an ear yeast infection. She’s all well now

I agree with Elrohwen, ask the vet about what he/she recommends. You should only have to do very minimal ear cleaning with rabbits on the length of the ear, and not inside of the ear canal. Some buns do have more chronic ear problems, but since this is the first time this is happening, I wouldn’t start doing anything without direction from the vet.

I think this may be random. Unless maybe your rabbit got it from the hay/ bedding… who knows haha. But i hope your rabbit is feeling better soon.

                  Thanks so much everyone!

I have been attempting to put the medication in her ear, but what usually happens is that once she feels the liquid, she shakes her head back and forth so hard that it all flies out! We are still trying…

Have you tried setting her on the bathroom counter? Just put a towel down that way you are in control. Be sure to give lotsa pets
