  Has anyone heard mention of things that may cause a Urinary infection in rabbits?
  I know there’s not usualy a for-sure answer for that but i am curious anyways.
  
  I belive Pitstop has a bladder infection, I noticed pee spots on the carpet, at first I thought he was being naughty, but yesterday when i noticed it was dribbles everywhere i knew we had a problem.
  He’s a bit wet on the backside, constantly grooming his genitals, and just not his happy self. I started him on baytril right away. If he’s not perked up by tomorrow morning I’ll find a way to get him to the Vet that day. If things don’t get any worse I have an appointment already booked for Saturdday with two other bunnies.
  
  Ani was my first bunny bladder infection, she was also diagnosed with bladder sludge. Pitstops urine has never looked sludgy, he is my chronic paturella bunny… could that be a factor?
  
  The Saturday appointment is for 2 other bunnies that I want checked up on, Kyoto (Fatty Lumps & Teeth) and the new foster Puff (Mobility issues)… the more the merrier? *sigh* … couldn’t they have at least waited till next pay day

  I think I’ve asked about this before…
  
  I suppose there are various things, if they have bladder crystals, stones or sludge, poopy butt, they could be more prone. Mobility and not being able to empty bladder as easily, not been able to groom around the area as easily. Just the physical make up of the urethra and bladder – if it’s not the norm might lead to more infections.
  I also wonder if they just have certain bacteria that flares up now and then. To me, if his immune system is busy keeping pasteurella infections at bay then it might not be as efficient at keeping other infections under control. The pasteurella bacteria can effect many different systems can’t it? Maybe it’s even that bacteria in the urinary system? Definately pick your vets brains! lol

  I had read a herb called uva ursi can help with bladder infections. It’s mentioned in the Rabbit Health in the 21C by Kathy Smith.

  Things have taken turn for the crappier, he’s not pooping or drinking on top of the urine dribbling, So he’s off to the vet this afternoon. He’s eating Celery & Parsley tops, and the occasional carrot, no pellets or hay. I was giving him oral fluids to try and keep him hydrated. Fingers crossed for my special little monkey man.

  Things have gotten a little serious with my poor Pitters. It’s not a Bladder infection but there is no real disagnosis yet. Right now He’s on baytril and force feedings. This morning we got poops, but they were mucose dis-formed messy poops. He ate some veggies on his own as well, so two positives I’m hoping for more improvments tonight *fingers crossed*
