Are we suppose to only feed one vitamin A a day, or MORE than one vitamin A per day?

The binkybunny list says to serve AT LEAST one every day, and among those include bok choy, and wheat grass.  But on House rabbit society, they have under “serve two a day”, bok choy and wheat grass both are listed, but the lettuces are not (they are on binky bunny).  House rabbit says to serve ONE vitamin A daily.

Please someone clarify somewhat, I am really confused.

I also have a question about carrots.  I have been giving Sunny a petite carrot every day (they are much smaller than “baby” carrots), is this ok?

Mmm…I’m reading one vit A each day on HRS list? Maybe we’re looking at different pages?

Anyway, the guideline is at least 3 different types of veg with at least one of these 3 being high vit A. It’s also fine to serve more than one high vit A veg.

Not sure on the differences with wheatgrass etc. The BB list is based on HRS guideline but BinkyBunny has probably edited it when she learns of different things to add. Not sure when the HRS list was revised.

Personally, I think the carrot is fine. If he has problems with messy stool or is gaining too much weight, then you might need to limit it.

here is the page on HRS I was looking at:http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html “A variety is necessary in order to obtain the necessary nutrients, with one each day that contains Vitamin A, indicated by an *.”

and the page on binkybunny: https://binkybunny.com/Default.aspx?tabid=144 ” (Those listed in bold are high in vitamin A. Make sure you serve at least one every day.)”

OK, so more than one vitamin A each day IS ok, thanks for that. I suppose it would be better to go by whichever guideline is updated more frequently-it makes sense. I will keep my print out of the binkybunny page

Both guidelines are correct, the BB diet page is based from the HRS page. You cannot overdose a rabbit on vitamin A thru fresh vegetables. So you are safe feeding more than one vitamin A veggie. You’ll also want to change stuff up from time to time tho to give some variety.

I agree-it’s an at least so you can feed more then one
Carrots are fine-we had a good conversation about it once on here…but my search isn’t working…anyways it used to be recommended to limit them because of sugar but some of the great rabbit experts are saying there is less sugar and they are fine to feed. I feed a large carrot between three bunnies, a dog and a pig usually every day

Re-reading “and a pig” I suddenly thought K&K might have gotten a pot belly pig and forgotten to tell us.*frowns* Then I remembered Norman!

BinkyBunny mentioned this too…maybe it was just the FL who discussed this? I don’t recall a thread on the topic.
