I don’t know how much you guys know about these rabbits and their over-population at the University of Victoria in BC so here are some links:

        http://communications.uvic.ca/rabbits/

        http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/08/30/bc-university-victoria-rabbits.html

        http://www.timescolonist.com/technology/host+rabbits+from+UVic/3998476/story.html

And the actual website for the rescue: http://www.uvicrabbitrescue.com/

They are transfering 75 rabbits to the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) farm; where I just happen to work when the PNE is running and I will be volunteering with them to comfort them after they have been spayed/neutered and make them feel at home. I am SO excited! It’s like an early Christmas present

Good for you! That’s awesome! I’ve been reading news on the UVIC situation for a long time now. It’s so great they are actually doing something.

I am so excited! Maybe I could even take one home so Thumper can have a friend..
Littlepuffytail, I agree, I’m so happy that these 500 rabbits are just getting euthanized, they’re actually going to some amazing homes!

Homes? I thought these 75 are going to Precious Life Animal Sanctuary?

Where is there more information on Precious Life Animal Sanctuary in Sequim? There web site doesn’t have any information on the rabbits coming in, and how/where they will be kept etc. The reason I am asking, the last program that moved the rabbit to a ‘sanctuary’ on Vancouver island ended up the rabbits living loose and getting into neighbouring farms and shot by owners and killed by dogs. Not the happy Ending we all hoped for.

Is the sanctuary not a home? Or I assume the rabbits will create their home. I haven’t been told anything about the sanctuary actually, I will ask around though.

                    It’d be nice to know.
I know quite a few people who had offered to help build appropriate houseing enclosures for the Bunnies that went to the Island, but all offered were ignored. So if there is a need for extra bodies in building fences, covered houses and such I am sure I can round up another group.

As far as I know the rabbits that are going to the sanctuary on Vancouver Island are already there. As are the ones to the sanctuary in Texas. The Washington rabbits are the ones that are at the PNE now, I believe.
