To drop off some hay, mind you!!

I haven’t been to a shelter before. Since Chacha snubbed her 9lb bag of Oxbow Orchard Grass, I decided to donate it, along with some other bags I had.

My dad and I headed to the shelter after the gym. I did not know what to expect. The lady was very happy to accept the hay! I got a tax receipt. The lady literally made me ask what amount I wanted. I thought she was going to give me money! I didn’t know exactly it was for but she explained it. It will help with my taxes since I donated!

There was a bunny room… that my dad was in nearly the entire time we were there

He was talking to a bunny named “Van Helsing.” He was a big black Flemish mix! He was a little fluffy, so I suspected an angora or lionhead mixture.

My dad was laughing at this black and white dutch/lionhead mix.. She had blue eyes. And she was playful she was definitely a sniffer and was curious!! My dad said Chacha isn’t like that. I said “Well, she has her own personality. All bunnies have different personalities like us humans do.”

I saw 2 dwarf mix girls. So adorable. They were both agouti colored. One had one white paw. It made me “Aww.” Lol. And another had white marking above its nose, like a wild rabbit.

Edit: I forgot to mention there was a brown colored version of Petzy’s Duffy boy there too

I am not looking for another bunny. I did feel bad about leaving, but I left glad that I can help some bunnies eat delicious, crunchy Orchard Grass!

I am not sure if I want another bunny

The dutch/lionhead mix with blue eyes and a sniffer sounds just like Cotton.        Wait let me check

Phew yes he is laying in his box.    No Cotton you aren’t going to the humane society.

YEs it is hard to leave the buns there.  But we can only do so much n donating hay is a big help to them

i agree… def hard to leave them behind! but oddly what helped me was doing a brief stint volunteering at my local shelter. i realized then how much attention the pets actually get there. true, its not nearly as good as when they find a forever home BUT there are a lot of staff and volunteers around everyday. some times when you just drop in you miss seeing all the action they do get. they sure do appreciate donations! i’m gonna make some cardboard tube toys to drop off next week before xmas for the bun buns

Oh I want to visit the no-kill rabbit shelter here in Chicago so badly! I’m afraid it may make my head explode from cuteness.
I absolutely can’t get another rabbit, Mr. Bun-Bun is extremely intolerant of even my cats, he’s king of the apartment and I know he’d freak out if another rabbit infringed on his turf. How did you visit and see all those cute bunnies without stuffing them in your bag and running out the door?!?

That was so nice of you Brittany! Sounds like your dad enjoyed it too.

I don’t think however that the tax receipt will help you with your taxes unless you itemize but perhaps your father can use this because it may benefit him more with his taxes…

It’s hard to see them and not want to just get a shopping cart and start filling it with buns. I’m glad you kept a clear head tho… lol! When (if) the time is right, you’ll know!

                      AWWWW

I think a lot of people feel guilty when they think about animal shelters-like they think, well I could adopt another but I can’t…but I should.
Or-I could volunteer but it would be sad.
Or-I could volunteer but why don’t I play with my own animals.

I think you should NOT feel guilt. You didn’t breed or abandon those animals.
You went there and helped them by donating. You will likely share that experience to anyone you talk to who wants a bunny. You and your dad brightened the day for those bunnies. I think you need a pat on the back, and not to guilt yourself into something you are not sure of (adopting).

I hope I’m coming across right-What I’m meaning is- *pats you on back* you did a GOOD thing today Don’t take a bunny home just because Take one home when you want another

                        Thanks everyone
Okay, I’ll get over it K&K. Although, I am happy the bunnies get an alternative to timothy They get to taste the deliciousness of Orchard Grass.. it does smell quite fragrant.. (and doesn’t make me sneeze).

My dad loves animals. He bought peanuts to feed the squirrels a few days ago lol!

Monkeybun, I did not steal a nethie
