I have 3 bonded rabbitsA full grown Holland lop.a 6 month old dwarf cross.and a 3 month old french lop x lion head

They’re in a big x-pen (The biggest one available) and They get free run of my room everyday. They’re only penned at night, or when I’m gone for a long period of time.

My French lop can squeeze through the puppy pen bars, Its very unsafe for her. I don’t want her to get stuck, or chew the wires the rest of the pen is blocking off! I’ve been looking at the NIC condos, But how big should it be?

I’m thinking of making at least 3 levels? any ideas/input is greatly appreciated

Have all the rabbits been spay/neutered? If not, I would hold off on doing any permanent housing until after that’s been done and they are officially bonded. As far as the xpen, you could just attach a row of grids around the bottom perimeter of the pen, or even cut up pieces of cardboard. It doesn’t have to be pretty, it’s just got to serve a function for a short time. Probably within the month, you could take it back down.

A NIC condo for three rabbits would need to be very large. 3 levels sound good, but I would make it as large as possible. Approximately how many hours are they penned up out of a 24 hour period? Is your goal to eventually not have any cage and just have them free roam in the room 24/7?

I have an indoor condo for my Netherland Dwarf that I purchased from here :
            http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260658783040&var=560012594015&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1366wt_905

It is enormous, even with 2 levels. I am 5’5″ and 3 levels would be about my height, if not taller than me.

It is made extremely well and my bunny absolutely loves it. She doesn’t want to come out to go to her school half of the time

I agree with Beka – don’t worry too much about permanent housing if they aren’t already fixed, because once they go through puberty it’s likely that there bonds will break until you fix and re-bond them.

For size, if you want to stick with xpens I think you should buy another and attach it – one 4’x4′ xpen is ok for two bunnies, but it quite tight for 3. If you want to make a condo it will have to be quite large – definitely 3 levels, and at minimum 2×4 panels on the bottom. Really, bigger is better, especially if they are penned up for more than just a few hours.

I have a “double-wide” for my pair, 4×8 foot xpen. If you have the space for something that size, I would really recommend it with three bunnies. The added bonus to this is within a few minutes, they can be taken apart and you have two separate cages… just in case. You can still build an additional level within the pen if you want to add some height.
