I noticed a few weeks ago twix will eat anything i eat…. This includes, pizza, sandwitches, smarties, milk, veggies, pellets, hay, juice.ANYTHING. (NOT THAT I’VE ALLOWED HER TO EAT THE BAD STUFF, BUT SHE TRIES.)

I like being able to share food with them, ill lay on the carpet and share rasins, cranberries, salad, fruit. whatever they can eat… Could this be a problem? I’ve got a glass of milk and everytime i turn around shes sticking her face into it,i eat smarties and shes trying to steal them, cheese and tomatosandwitches are the worst she will try anything to get them.. how can i curb this behaviour?

Perhaps you will have to eat non-bunny foods up off of the floor, and out of Twix’s reach?

Definitely do not have the non-bunny edible foods out of reach.

              Grumpybun gave good advice.

lol, sorry for the misunderstanding, non bunny food never is close to the floor, but she’ll jump right into your lap, no matter where you are.

Ah, I see. I did wonder why you hadn’t thought of not taking off the floor, lol!

The safest thing to do is simply not have food where she may be able to get it. Eat away from the buns – in a different room or while they are penned. Eat sat at a table so she can’t jump that high. Even eat whilst standing, and get rid of any left overs straight away. It’s not fun, but if Twix is determined it’s best for her

She should not have access to human foods, at all. By sharing with her you are only encouraging this behavior.

Petzy is right, no access to human foods. Just don’t have human food in the same room if she’s that bad. Bear in mind that if you share ‘bunny’ food with her she can’t be expected to realise that you won’t share ‘human’ food; she isn’t to know which is which.

Oh my! This reminds me of Eddie. He was always wanting my food too. He’d jump on the couch, then climb on me, I’d put hold plate to one side, he’d follow, I’d move it back to the other, he’d follow. Finally I’d give up and put him on the floor or just put the plate completely out of reach till he gave up and went away.

Sometimes giving him a few fresh pellets would deter him. That way he could eat WITH me and not my food. I got into the bad habit of giving him some of my foods, but I think more than just thinking he needed it, he just wanted to eat with me.

Felony is the same. As soon as someone goes to the fridge, he is right there. If you sit on the couch and he even thinks he hears a bag crinkle, or a banana getting peeled or someone biting into an apple, he’s on the couch.

Frankie is the same way too. Greedy bunnies. I just push him away until he gives up, haha. It doesn’t always work, so he’s lucky he’s cute and it’s funny if I’m in a good mood.

Unfortunately the food she finds on the table can act as a reward for that behavior, so she sees it as a treat for jumping up onto you and where the food is. You need to retrain her to not do that.
Feeding her bunny food while you are eating your food can turn her attention to staying put on the floor or even shut in her cage so she will eat right, be rewarded with good food and not be bothering you. I would urge you to never eat anything while she’s out, and she can have dinner in her cage near you while you have yours. Grumpybun is right, and you need to keep the human food out of reach. Some of those food items can be downright dangerous. If you can’t break her of the bad habits, try clicker training. It’s only positive reinforcement that works, so she needs a more positive reward for changing than she is getting by joining your meals.

I used to grab Eddie and snuggle with him. Since that’s not what he wanted, he’d get pissed off and hop off the couch, leaving me to eat in peace. LOL Worked most of the time. God I miss that little adorable poophead.
