So I was going for a left over eye booger from my baby’s eye injury. He wasn’t too pleased and let out a loud grunt. Next thing I know, I have rabbit stank on me! And I mean nasty rabbit stank! Ugh! Do rabbits do this to express their displeasure? My other rabbit doesn’t do this, he just bites…

Yes, I’m not at all sure what you mean. Can you please clarify.

I mean that he sprayed and it smelled really bad and it was ON me. I had to take a shower.

You mean he sprayed pee on you? Is he neutered?

Yes, I believe that is what it was. This one is not neutered yet. That is the next thing on our to-do list. He was so tiny when we got him that the vet said we should wait.

Hormones do make their urine stink more. Should smell less once he is neutered. The spraying might stop too

I just couldn’t believe he actually sprayed AT me. I guess I would rather get bitten than have stinky rabbit juice on me. He grunted really loud too. I guess it makes sense though. He hasn’t wanted anyone to mess with that eye ever since the vet gave me that gel to put in it. Normally he is so passive about having stuff done to him. Never have I had a rabbit that would simply sit there while you cut their nails, but he does! The other rabbit puts up such a fuss, you can barely even hold him still (even when he is a burrito).

They can spray as a defensive gesture. Or he enjoyed your grooming his eye a little too much? lol
This is not the impossibly cute, jersey wooly is it? I just can’t imagine!

Yep, it is the same one! He is normally such a sweetie! He loves being held and cuddled, but you better not mess with that eye!

I think they also open their anal glands a bit ( I want to say I read this somewhere, but not sure) so their urine is pretty rank.

Jackson was SUPER musky pre-neuter, and I found it took a good month post neuter for his odor to die down.
