Just got two male rhouse rabbits about 12 weeks old only had them a week. One of them seems to have a fat bellie but it’s like a bloated bellie. He’s not off his food and seems to be still pooing. Does any one have any ideas what it could be.

Try rubbing his belly but you really need to get him to a vet is he still drinking?

I would get him to the vet to have a fecal test done. He could have coccidia and needs treatment.

Just got back from work and his bellie doesn’t seem as big. But there was some smelly squashey poos in the cage. He’s running around the living room ok. Stil fighting cuddles but then again I fight them from my girlfriend too

Also he seems to have some little spots on his skin maybe like a bite. Might be going over the top and worrying over nothing. New to the rabbit world

I would highly recommend that you get a check up from the vet to check for fur mites and coccidia for both your rabbits. Also you want to ensure they are sexed properly.

The smelly poops are probably cecals – the type of poop that rabbits usually eat. If you just switched his diet around (especially if he has new pellets), he’s probably just adjusting to the new food. One of my rabbits had similar problems when we first brought him home.

I strongly agree with what Sarita recommended. It’s not uncommon for baby rabbits to have a parasite that can cause digestive issues, and if left untreated, may even be fatal. The treatment for coccidia (if caught early) is very simple, just some meds for a couple weeks. But they both need to be seen for exams by a rabbit vet for this to be confirmed.

And also, like Sarita said, the vet will officially sex them. So if need be, they can be separated until after they are spayed/neutered.
