I had to make a new thread so it’s under my thread and people don’t get the wrong kind of idea about my relationship with Rabbitpam lol
So just an update-pics later because momma is sleeping (so that she can keep us up all night I’m sure)-she’s doing great. Met the rescue founder last night and was suprised about how young-yet put together she was. It was very neat to meet her and I think I’d like to be involved to the extent of doing fundraising etc. for the group.
I got Missy Momma a dog tag, with the rescue number on it-becuase well-dogs should have tags! I think my first order of business will be getting a dog tag company to donate tags with the rescue phone number and name for all the dogs they foster. Missy is not the first fostered dog I’ve found-but the third. So it does happen!
She seems to be gaining weight which is fantastic-and not having an allergic reaction to anything. The rescue founder said that most reserve dogs have reactions to food, but usually within a year can eat anything. We’re doing grain free high end food. The group brought dry kibble for us yesterday and I’m doing the wet food and yogurt (without sweetner), milk etc. Momma is eating a ton!
Pups are fat and healthy and nursing a ton. My little scale will no longer weigh them, so I need to pick up a new one tomorrow so I can keep track.
It’s awesome-I sent an email today (my boss was bugging me for pictures so I figure that’s permission to use company email to send puppy pictures
) with the story, pictures and rescue info. I overheard people talking about it in the hallways today, people I’ve never met (who apparently know who I am) talked to me about it and what they are going to donate to the rescue-I’m so excited.Maybe things happen for a reason.

Totally a lot of barking and poopies.
But tonight we sleep well-well Dave and Mikey at least….Its with mixed feelings (sadness and relief and sadness) that I report that they were able to arrange a foster home (with room and time!!) for her and the pups and they picked her up tonight. I’m still hearing them even though they aren’t here-I’ve been hearing them at work -any sound…. sounds like puppies or mom to me these past few weeks!! I’m really sad they are gone but glad because mom needs more room, and pups need more room and this whole thing was very stressful for Mikey who has some emotional issues.
Rest assured when we (hopefully) move and get an acreage this spring, I’m setting up a dog house and dog run for these not-so-few dogs who come to my house. It just seems prudent. Also I’m thinking I need to start writing about all these dogs, as Missy was my 11th (and pups were 12, 13, 14,15,16 & 17th) dogs who I’ve found this year. LOL So many funny dog rescue stories. Usually I only need a few hours but it would be reassuring I have somehwere to put them while I figure out where they go.
My familiy jokes that I steal them out of yards, and if I stop to pet a dog they joke ‘Lesley-that dog has a home and doesn’t need to be rescued’ lol I find too many! In fact, althought this is the first dog who’s given birth in my home…this is the 3rd dog who escaped a foster home I’ve found. Well two-my mom found one-so proud she wrangled a husky into her car off the highway. See-it rubs off
It was funny, my hairdresser was asking if I ever found the owners of the dogs I find. I’ve never not found where they belong. This winter I even had a cop violate privacy laws to give me a home address after the phone number was not in service lol. I always seem to find them, and luck always seems to help me get them home!
I have to do something to thank my parents-they came over no questions asked to give me moral support through delivery and my mom has been over twice since to help me clean as I’m just tired and busy. Dad took Dave out shopping during delivery (not something men are interested in) and Dave got a projector and a 100″ screen lol -and was much nicer about this whole disruption.
And I have to thank you all!! So much support and encouragement
As always-my family I’m missing pups-they were cute. But I’m really missing Missy Momma-what an incredible dog. If anyone is interested in the rescue or her or pups-message me and I’ll send you the rescue link and contact info
