The vet did an autopsy on Louie and found out he had an abcess in his intestine.  She said that there would’ve been nothing that could have been done about it.  He was basically doomed from the start.    She said that cases like his are pretty rare and that it could be caused by something as little as a sharp piece of hay.  How sad.  I don’t know if that makes me feel better or worse for him.  It just basically sucks.

Sorry to hear. At least you know that there was nothing you could have done differently and that must give you some kind of reassurance, I hope.

It takes time to get over these losses and it is important to mourn. I believe though that it is in fact much harder if there is something in the back of your mind going “should I’ve, could I’ve…” so at least you don’t have that part to worry about.

Focus on the good times and know that it was his time to go and not because of something you could have prevented.

I agree with Karla, there was nothing you could have done and you gave him a great life. Not that that makes you feel anybetter, I know, but you’re a good bunny mom and Louie was very lucky to have such a life with you.

I agree with Karla and Kralspace – knowing that you could not do anything but you tried should definitely reassure you.

He was lucky to have a caring family. Do focus on the positive.

He was so lucky to have a family like yours, just always remember you did everything you could for him! *hugs*

I have seen the Black Rabbit escort a lot of our bunnies over the Bridge this year in particular, but what I will remember the best and most about them is what you all have shared of their wonderful lives here with all of us. These are the things that are important, because they help hold us up as we walk our paths when our dear fluffy friends have gone on to their blessed reward.

I hope that in time, especially with this knowledge, the wonderful days will again outshine any clouds to your memories of Louie. He would want for you to remember him full of life and happy with you…that is when he is closest to you once again.
                    Bless you.

Aw Chris! Hugs I’m sorry to hear that he had the abscess. At least he is not in pain anymore.

I didn’t get a necropsy done on Eddie cause it wasn’t important for me to know for sure. I mean, I know what killed him – a blockage almost the size of his stomach. And I can easily guess what it all was from all the junk he managed to eat his whole life. Little Bossy Goat Monkey! lol The vet offered but he sounded like he wanted to do it out of HIS own curiosity and I wasn’t having that.

But I hope that finding out helps you to know that it wasn’t anything YOU did.

I’m glad you can at least have some closure on what caused him to pass.

I’m glad the vet was able to determine his condition and reassure you that you did your best but it was going to happen no matter what.
As others have said, you gave him in what time he had a wonderful and loving home.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.

I hope everything will be okay for you right now. It isn’t your fault. There is nothing you can do to prevent from it.

Your bunny already thanked you for good life. Please stop feeling bad. Your rabbit want you to feel better and be happy. He/she is watching you
