A little backround: We’ve had some trouble with water damage and mold in the old bunny room since this Spring. We’ve had a very dry late Summer/Autumn, so I decided it wouldn’t be harmful to keep the bunnies in there again.

Well, I didn’t notice it, but apparently, the mold came back…and the bunnies – who have a habit of tearing loose pieces off the wall – chewed off a really moldy patch.

I’m not sure which rabbit did it, or if both of them worked on it. However, Mr. Bunny has been in that room since this morning, and he might have done it. I’m not sure how much he ate, or just how moldy the paint layer was. But I’ve read about how dangerous mold is for bunnies, and I’m scared to death… Mr. Bunny seems relatively normal. He’s a little sleepy (not unusual for him at this time of day), but he seems to have a full appetite. He hasn’t made much poop today, but that’s also not too unusual for him – and I heard gurgling, so I know he’ll be pooping soon.

        Should I be concerned?

Well, it’s really hard to know if he would actually eat this stuff or not – I doubt he would find it appetizing. I think at this point just watch him to see how he is and make sure he is eating well. I’m not really sure what affect it would have eating mold.

My guess (???) is that he’d have to eat a pretty large portion of it for it to have an adverse effect. But like Sarita said, just watch them and see how they are over the next couple days.

You might want to watch them for something respiratory too, mold always gives me sinus infections, I don’t know if it would affect bunnies that way too or not.
