It’s that time of year again! I’d love to see what people are carving this year. I’ll post mine as I do them, I’ve done 3 so far.
Simpson’s 3-eyed Fish

Doctor Who – although given how I screwed up the face he’s more like werewolf zombie Doctor Who

Evil Queen from Snow White – figured it was timely given all the election stuff going on. We just had our civic election today in fact.

– Annette
Yay! I was happy to see the thread title.
They are just awesome! I’m always impressed by your skill Annette. On the Dr Who one, I think the menacing face is very suitable! Love the Queen one.
those are cool!i showed my boyfriend and he really liked it.i bet he’s gonna buy some pumpkins and try to do that.LOL!
wow. I just went to a halloween festival and those are definitely winners lol
holy moly you are very talented!!!
We haven’t yet carved ours for this year, but here’s the one I carved from last year:

And my brother carved this last year. It blew my mind!

Yea! Love them!!!!!!
Oooh…Annette, I love the Doctor Who O Lantern! ^_^ (We’re just winding down the fourth season on our local tv and I’m going to miss David Tennant as the Dr.)
Kind of OT, but has anyone seen the new show, Sherlock, on PBS? Two of the folks from Doctor Who put it together. It was crazy weird the first ep, but both my daughter and I are hooked on it now. ![]()
Wow talk about talent!
We are carving tonight, havn’t carved in a couple years. I am making a Jack Skelton this year for sure. bought 3 pumpkins, 2 little ones one regular size.
These are a few from a couple years ago when we did them.

Great carves Lizzie and Andi! I always love seeing what other people are doing.
I can’t do the cut-through method on pumpkins. I just can’t. I’m terrible with knives, I always screw something up, and I’m certain that I’m going to slice off a finger. For me the shading method is just so much easier.
Here’s the 2 I did tonight, and a little surprise that mother nature had waiting for me when I emerged from the garage after carving.
Lady and the Tramp

Looney Toons

SNOW?!

I’m getting ready for Halloween, and it’s looking like Christmas outside!
– Annette
Lol, Oh no, you got so involved in carving that 2 months flew by!
These latest carves are great! The kids will love seeing them.
S&A you guys always have the best pumpkins!!!! I was going to buy ours tonight but we had a dog come to stay at ‘casa de lesley’ so Dave will hopefully pick them up tomorrow lol but ours will not be as good as yours! We’ll post pics though! I want to do one bunny one and one doggy one ![]()
Hubby brought home three bags of candy from the store today but no pumpkin.
Boo.
Okay…shading and sculpting easier than carving…? Hmmmmm…..
Last time I tried it came out terrible. I think it was Bunicula, but I can’t remember where I put the pic….
Seriously, easier than carving. Shading is more like colouring a picture, especially if you have good tools for it. You can use the stuff you get in kits that peel the skin off the pumpkin, which frankly are basically plastic screwdrivers, but I use my Dremel. I know lots of carvers use Dremels on the foam pumpkins but I figure hey it’s just a different material for it
– Annette
Oh pffft….a DREMEL…well…lol….you’d think I would’ve thought of that.
Unfortunately, my mind’s eye sees poor Annette slaving away for hours on end with a sharp little tool that looks like an eyebrow tweezer trying to get all that skin off. >.< I'm such a dummy! *foreheadslap*
My father-in-law sent me an email FULL of carved pumpkins that are all done by the same person…they’re really gruesome looking stuff, but pretty wild sculpting. I’ll have to see if I can get any of the pix copied onto my desktop so I can post them here.

I was SO looking forward to carving this year!! And our local SS is sold out. In general this close you can’t find a pumpkin. I’m disappointed too!!! However nothing I did (last year I did an awesome bunny donny darko) would stand up to S&A’s artwork. You guys are awesome at carving!!!

Ithink I saw that email!! The first pic was a dude with his brain unzipped? That was all WOW!!
I’m willing to bet that was Ray’s work.

Look like that might be it? He’s done (and won) some food network challenges and used to be a participant on the pumpkin forum I frequent.

Happy Halloween to you!
Yep, that’s more of Ray’s stuff. The man is just insane! He was on I think it was the CBS news last week, and apparently tonight he’ll be at the White House!
– Annette
He’s visionary. I can’t get my head around how to even begin to create the stuff he does.
I love your cat, Annette.
Yes, Annette and Lesley, that was Ray’s work. I wasn’t able to get the pix off the email though…one of those blasted “can’t find specified file” error messages. Humbug!
Anyway, our Halloween was quiet, with only one car of kids (I think our renters brought their church friends over) and I had to stumble out onto a completely dark porch and practically use Braille and a cane to find the children and put candy in their bags! lol….
Unfortunately, WAY too much leftover….*gurgle…sickface*
