Ever since I brought Sunny home last week he has been great at peeing in his litter box, until today while I had him out in the living room.  sSo far this has been a daily thing, I set up rugs and a sheet for him in the living room and his litterbox and pellets, water, and let him play and explore. Never peed outside the box until a little bit ago.

At first I thought it was an accident, like his bottom hanging over the litterbox, because it was right at the litter box entrance, and I didn’t see him do it.  Just a few mins ago I was on the floor with him, we were loving on each other (he always comes under my hand when I go to pet him and sticks his face up to the bottom of my wrist-smelling? being submissive, I dunno). Anyway, nothing unusual, until BAM, he turns around and sticks his rump in my direction and pees! He was not backed up against me or anything, but it WAS in my direction, in close proximity.

I’m just wondering if there is anything to this behavior? A submissive thing? A male thing? Just an accident? I know it may be hard to pinpoint, but what are some possible reasons for this? He’s 6 wks old. (remember, never peed outside his box for over a week since I’ve had him, today he did it TWICE)

He might be trying to ‘mark’ you as his… Sammy also peed ON me once within a few days of when I brought him home. He hasn’t done it since though.

See if it continues or if it was a one day incident.

My male did things like that until he was neutered. He actually got me in the face while I was asleep. You can’t really expect them to have good litterbox manners when they are intact, and they will continue spraying. If he’s not doing it for hormonal reasons, well he’s just a baby and still learning. Just try to reinforce good habbits until you neuter him.

Is there anything I can do if he does that again to show him that’s not right?

Also, I’ve noticed that ever since I’ve had him, his urine is kind of cloudy, unlike human or dog urine. Is this normal for rabbits?

Rabbits have deposits in their urine, so its normal. When it dries, it looks like glitter. Its kinda weird haha. I’m sorry he tried to pee on you. Bing actually peed next to my face this morning and he has never done anything like that before. I’m not really sure why? Maybe he just really had to go and…well, I don’t know. I wish I knew everything they were thinking! Lol

There isn’t any reason to it. He is a baby and babies have accidents. There is nothing you can do to tell him its wrong beside continuing to reinforce good litter habits and then neutering when he is old enough.
