What do ear flicks mean? Are they meant to be read in context? I think he’s doing it because he’s happy… but it might be annoyance lol. Sometimes he does it when I’m giving him lettuce or scratching his nose. I think it means he likes something because he doesn’t go away when he does it and sometimes it’s followed by tons of binkys. Sometimes he does it and turns around but always faces again. I just want to make sure though.

are you talking to him when you feed him lettuce or when you give him nose rubs? Rabbits radar their ears around to catch sounds, and so he may be flickng them to listen to your voice. They also flick ears when something touches their ears, like a bug, or draft or wind, or a piece of hay etc. Excessive ear flicking would be a sign of ear trouble but that is different from just an ocassional ear flick. The ear flick& binky move is a funny sight and my Neigey did this lots as a kit. I guess, they do this as part of discovering their surroundings.

The ear flicking followed by binkies is a happy thing – it’s like they do a mini-binky with the ear flicks. Mine will often flick their ears after I’ve been petting them, as if I’ve messed up their ears and they have to shake them back into the right position or something.

Lol when my bunny shakes his ears it sounds like clappling a little rofl. Kind of like a loud dog shaking his fur! I think his flicking is like a happy mini binky as he usually gives a little half hop.

Oh yeah, I had posted about this elsewhere, my bunny does this all the time. We have a game, when I let him out of his condo he runs into the kitchen and I chase him, and he tosses his head (making his ears flap back and forth) the whole way. Sometimes he attempts half-binkies, but I have all linoleum/hard wood floors. He can only binky on the area rug, I interpret the head-tossing as a modified binky, like he’s binkying with just his head and ears, haha!

My bunny who has a bad leg (and thus has the goofiest silliest binkies) often ear flick binkies instead. It’s sort of a lazy happy thing-at least as far as I can tell So long as the ears are clean, and there aren’t any mites or other problems that would cause head shaking-an ear flick is often kind of a half binky
