So my local Tractor Supply is now carrying a nice range of bagged forage, including Standlee Timothy Pellets:
http://www.standleehay.com/ViewProd…amp;id=tgp
The ingredient is 100% pure timothy, not even any binding ingredients (which is unusual for cubed/pelleted forage, that’s why I love Standlee brand!). The guaranteed analysis is…
Protein – Not Less Than 8%
Crude Fat – Not Less Than 1.8%
Crude Fiber – Not More Than 35%
Moisture – Not More Than 12%
I was perhaps considering buying a bag of this for my horse and Zeus to share. While it couldn’t be a total replacement of the hay in his diet, since it lacks long-stem forage (pelletizing does that), could it be offered as a supplement to his regular hay? Has anyone fed their buns a pure hay pellet like this? I think it would be a great way to get him to eat more hay, because I’m sure he’d just see them and think “YAY PELLETS!” and not realize it’s just hay.
