Sorry if this has been answered already.  I did a search but didn’t find what I was looking for.

Is there a bug spray to use indoors that is safe for me to use?  Ortho Home Defense says it is fine for animals to re-enter the room after it has dried.  I’ll be doing it a few days before Hugo moves in and just want to be very careful since he is free range.  Our new house has a ton of bugs even though I have cleaned well.  I think it being unlived in for over a year made the bugs like it a little too much.

We’re hopeful to move in on Monday so I was thinking about doing it tomorrow.

        Thanks for your help!  =)

          Hi Amy,
An Ortho Ecosense product was discussed recently in this thread: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tab…fault.aspx
Perhaps that will answer some of your questions?

I’m looking for something to use that I don’t have to spray on every bug when I see it. Like a barrier. We have so many spiders and creepy crawlies in there. The vet I saw yesterday (not my regular) told me to use a fogger. Yuck. I don’t want that in my freshly carpeted and painted house.

I know a lot of etheral oils work as bug repellents…so I don’t know, but I was thinking perhaps you could set up tons of aromatherapy oil lamps around the place?

I used to live in a house like that as well. It was really disgusting, but if it is any comfort, then they did slowly move out after 2-3 months. I didn’t do anything other than carry them all out one by one haha

Thanks. I’ll look into that too.

I use food-grade diatomaceous earth like this. It’s like a fine powder and I put it in crevices and areas where bugs frequent. You have to be careful as it’s very drying on your skin and must avoid getting the dust in your eyes.

Also, I’ve heard spiders (not sure if particular ones) don’t like lemon oil. So you could try rubbing that around doorways etc.
