George if a 3 year old Flemish Giant. He is 16 lbs. I would love to get him some sort of tunnel or playhouse or something, but I think the big ol’ fluffball is too big for one. The measuring tape does not lie.  He is 10 inches tall at the tallest point while perched. I would like to find him something to play in but I am having so much trouble. Suggestions?

I agree those would be too small for such a big bunny. Do you think he would like a tunnel? Or are you just looking for something for him to like under?

He likes to be under things it seems. His area is my kitchen, and I put in an old coffee table he has had his entire life and he loves sitting under it (even on it from time to time). So maybe just under something. He likes to hide sometimes and I think that the coffee table isn’t very good at hiding him.

The willow tents would probably work for him then.

I really like using NIC grids for making tunnel structures and they double as shelves. My rabbits love to hide too, under their hutch, under the bed… but they also like a simple NIC tunnel. This one is mini, only two grids long, but you can make it longer annd wider if you’d like. You can also cover it to make it cozy.

The bigger bunny in the tunnel is an 8 lbs. rabbit, so, again,  you might like to make your structure two grids wide, or one and a half.

You could get a big plastic bin, turn it upside down and make an entrance in it. I bought one with an open front so it already had an entrance but most of the ones already made like this would probably be too small for your bunny, so you’d have to pick a bigger bin and make the same type of opening. You can protect the edges of the opening by putting wire protectors on them… I’ve seen other people do that before on this site, but it’s kind of hard to explain…

You could use the concrete building forms from Menards. They come in 12″ diameters and up. I’m thinking about getting one for Hugo.

Those are all good suggestions. You could also build a tunnel (w/ shelf) out of wood to the dimensions you need.

I put a blanket over the maze haven I have for Lolli. And she LOVES it. Is always under there. So maybe just draping a blanket or sheet over the coffee table will work. It’ll seem more like a tunnel or cavern or whatever to them lol

I’d actually build a cardboard tunnel. You can either get a box from the UHaul store designed to pack a lamp, which is tall but only opens about a foot in every dimension that he could run through, or get some rectangular boxes, like xerox paper ones (stores like Office Depot can sometimes spare their empties) and open them end to end. Tape the ends together to form a tunnel. You could use food coloring to paint decorations on them if you want.

Wow what a big bunny! I thought my bunny was huge! I understand your frustration. My bunny likes totes. I make his hidey houses and diggy boxes with totes. I turn them upside down and cut a hole in them and stuff them with shredded newpaper.Of course he plays in it then pees in it He can climb on top of them and they won’t cave in like a box would. My bun also likes boxes though. He knows he can’t sit on top of them but he loves to peel them and scoot them. He also loves to sit under things. There is also wooden things. I am planning to make a wooden maze haven for my bun.

I remember reading on BB somewhere that you can get tunnels for them at a hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot  the larger stores.

I forget what they are called though.   They are made of cardboard and are long  but not real real long.  You may be able to find the right size there.

Though the big ones are quite expensive. Well to me they are maybe not to someone else.

Dang I just can’t remember what they called them though. I remember them over a row or 3 from the plywood
