I just got home from vacation today around three and i cleaned there whole cage and put fresh hay and some veggies in for them. i noticed mocha was running around ( i even saw some binkys from hime) and chow ing down hay and some veggies. But lulu never moved from the spot she had been in sese i got home she didn’t eat anything i even put veggies in front of her and she wouldn’t eat them. I went to dance thinking she is just nevouse from us being home i will keep an eye on her. well i just got home and she hasn’t moved from that spot i put a scoop of pellets right in front of her and she just sniffed them.

Please help me! what do i do?

OK. She may have a tummy ache. Can you hear gurgling from her stomach? You should try massaging her gently on her abdomen: use your finger tips and little pressure to create a motion pattern. Repeat every hour for a few minutes. Do you have ovol drops at home?
I do the massage thing to mine when they are in tummy trouble and many times it has worked to resolve the issue. Sick buns tend to allow you to massage them. Have her on your lap, and lift up her chest with one hand so you can massage with your other. Offer her wet greens such as dill or parsley if you have. If she has not eaten by tomorrow morning take her to the vet. Ask your sitter what happened. Stay calm.
          Vibes~

UPDATE: Lulu moved! she came down the ramp out into the pen area! i tried hand feeding her pellets through the bars but she just sniffed it and left. then i saw her sniffing the ground were some parsley used to be so i ran into the kitchen to get her some fresh parsley and i hand fed her a piece and she ate it! then mocha chased her into the condo so i put the whole plate of parsley in front of her so she could eat it and she acted like she was trying to get it in her mouth but was to lazy to chew it. she did this with some hay to. do you think somethings wrong with her teeth?

              Who was looking after them while you were gone? I’d get in touch right away and ask when they last saw her eat. Then depending on that answer-I’d either wait a bit longer or get the e-vet asap. {{Lulu}}
You can syringe feed critical care if you keep any on hand, or you can mash up pellets and mix about 50/50 with water and see if that works. Have you tried putting her favorite treat in front of her?

i tried the message thing but i don’t really have a clue how to do it and in about a few seconds she struggled to get free. so i set her in a laundry basket and listened for the sound for 16 seconds and didn’t her a thing. do you have to be right by there stomachs to her it because my ear was by her back.

If she’s eating little bits of things on her own then this is good. Maybe take her out of the condo and observe her on her own. Is she hot perhaps? Sometimes bunnies react out of sorts when their humans have been away. So she might come around. But definately keep an eye out for signs of her feeling uncomfortable. I’d just keep offering things like parsley.

How is she this morning Mocha?! The fact that she struggled during the massage makes me think she at least has some spunk. Very sick buns won’t even struggle. Some of it might be her not being on the usual schedule with you at home. Keep a very close eye on her.

I think she was really nervous last night, because she started eating her pellets around 10 pm or so. It has been really loud compared to no noise that she had the whole week we were gone. But she just scared me because mocha’s normally the scared one and she’s playing and asking for pets.

                                I have another Question.

How long do rabbits remember people? Do you think they still remember me? I know that sounds stupid but i was just wondering.

                                  Glad she is better.

I’m not sure we can truly know how long rabbit’s memories are – we can only speculate based on our own experience. I’m sure yours remember you – they’ve just had their routine interrupted and need to feel secure again.

                                    OK. Thanks.

So now that she is back to normal how do you tell if your rabbit is really sick?

Here’s a good article to read about detecting if your rabbit is sick:

I’m glad she is doing better! I was also going to suggest that perhaps it was her way of protesting you being gone. It can happen.

A friend’s rabbit ripped up their couch when they were gone one weekend. Usually he never does that kind of stuff and is free range 24/7, but he was ticked that he got left and/or his routine got messed up. Another friend’s rabbit would quit eating if she left her. So rabbits can react to varying degrees to their slaves being gone or returning home.

Eddie used to be ticked at me for however long he decided whenever I returned from a trip. Sometimes it was only for the rest of the day I came home, or the next day or a couple of days. Lollipop has never really seemed to show any signs that she cared. As long as she had food and got her treats, she’s usually good to go. LOL

I like to be prepared in case my buns get sick. You can probably find a more complete first aid kit list somewhere but this is what I always keep on hand:

                                              -Simethicone (I use Ovol brand)
                                              -Oxbow Critical Care
                                              -Baby food or canned pumpkin
-clean towels and baby blankets (good for bunny burritos)
                                              -cotton balls and cotton swabs
-several different sized syringes (no needles on them!)
-corn starch (works well to stop a nail from bleeding)
-hot water bottle (sick bunnies should be kept warm)
                                              -List of rabbit vets

I keep all this in a drawer in my rabbit room. I’ve needed all of these items at least once (some quite often).
