But I can’t figure out what breed of rabbit Spooky is. I was told he was a dwarf when I got him from the pet store… but he has gotten almost twice the size he was when I got him and I’m pretty sure he is only 10-12 weeks old now.

He is black and white and his ears stick straight up. His fur is really soft, and not long.

There are so many breeds it’s really hard to tell by a photo. Young rabbits are usually really soft. My bunny didn’t start to get coarse fur until around 7 months. How long have you had your bunny? I will tell you that Pet Stores usually know very little to nothing about rabbits so I wouldn’t really take what they said very seriously. You will be surprised to see how fast they grow. They definitely don’t take their time. A lot of rabbits are near full grown at only 4 or 5 months old. Have you had your buns first Vet examination yet? If so, do you know how much he weighs?

Oh, and in my opinion, your bun is very similar to mine. The body and the markings are look a lot like Baxters. He is a red and white New Zealand. Maybe your bun is a black and white New Zealand mix. lol That is pretty much opposite of a dwarf. I think your buns ears are too long and wide to be a dwarfs but that is just my opinion.

Pretty much all pet stores say bunnies are dwarfs, so people buy them.

Looks to me like he is a mix, possibly a dutch mix.

He looks like a dutch mix to me. I’m not entirely sure what he could be mixed with. If his fur is a little softer than most bunnies’ fur, it’s possible that he’s part mini or standard rex – or it might just be his baby coat. Really, it’s hard to know what breed bunnies are until they’re fully grown.

How much does he weigh right now?

I’m going with Dutch mix as well. What a cutie!

I think he’s got some dutch in there too – he looks a bit like my boys and they’re dutch crosses.

He might just be pure “cute rabbit” breed though

I was thinking dutch too after I google around for a while.

I just had a friend ask me the other day if he was a mini rex, and it dawned on me that I didn’t even know what breed he was, ha ha.

                        I have another question..

I have some carrots and parsley in the fridge that I got at the grocery today. What age can I start giving him little amount of that? I was curious about it after I bought those today. He is probably 12 weeks.

lol he does look like a dutch mix. I didn’t even think about that. He is similar to Billy (he is pure dutch)
You can start to feed them greens at 12 weeks. Stick to one at a time though. I would hold off on the carrots until he is okay with the greens. Parsley is a good start. Stay away from the higher calcium greens such as Kale and Mustard greens. I started mine on Parsley then cilantro and they did very well

Not a stupid question at all ! I think it’s one many of us here have asked too as there’s alot of mix breed bunnies out there. Thing is, you can never really tell from looks alone. I see the dutch markings too but this is something that can occur in other breeds. Was Spooky at the store with his siblings? Sometime there can be a big variety in looks within a litter. There’s something about the colour in his ears and general looks that’s reminding me of something… rex maybe? Even though he doesn’t have typical rex fur.

Here is another photo of the little guy.

My boyfriend said he thinks its dutch too. I will be going to the vet sometime this month for a first time check up and I’ll see what he says.

CUUUUUTE bunny! She does not look like a Nethie to me; her features aren’t that dainty. She could very well be a mixed breed. Here is a great website to learn about some of the breeds out there: http://www.arba.net/Breeds.htm. These are the ones accepted in the U.S. I don’t know where you’re located, but the British organization accepts even more breeds. It’s fun to read about them.

I’m in the U.S. and yeah I agree, his ears are way too big to be a dwarf ha ha. He is growing more and more everyday! its kind of scary.. ha ha.

rofl Oliver was the same way when we got him. He got really big in a really short amount of time.

I forgot to say this in my other post, but I agree with the others; his coloration and the shape of his face definitely reminds me of a Dutch bun.
