  We ended up at the ER on Sunday. Jessica hadn’t eaten her veggies. Her belly appeared very taut & she cringed when I tried to massage her belly. I knew she had stasis. I was very nervous at the ER b/c they consult w/ the bunny specialist over the phone/computer and I felt they were not treating her quickly enough. I also wasn’t sure how to guide her tx and what tx’s to agree to. The vet rec’d comprehensive blood lab panel, xrays, & I don’t remember. Based on my Binky Stasis review, I asked for pain meds and to have the stasis tx’d proactively. After further scanning I asked for xrays.
  
  She was in stasis but that was secondary to a bladder filled w/ calcium. Her little bladder was completely white on the xray. We decided on pain meds only & fluids. We force fed overnight and brought her to our vet in the am. Our vet said we need to try to flush out her bladder w/ fluids & monitor stasis as it may be chronic.
  
  She started eating wet veggies again. She is on simethicone, motility meds, subcu fluids, & .syringe watering. She has started tiny poops & pees pretty constantly (reminds me of Edson the urinator). She returns to the vet this weekend.
  
  Anymore suggestions to get this out…..how to get her to drink more?

  My bunnies love pedialyte, grape flavored. I find it is helpful to entise them to drink more. Sometimes i mix it with the water, in a bowl or syringe depending on the situation.
  Little poops is a good sign things are moving again, so just keep up the great work you are doing.

  I hope she’s feeling better soon! That’s super the ER was able to consult with a specialist-even though it seemed slow, it sounds like they did the right things! I ditto the pedialyte, grape flavor-that was a hit at my house

  By the way, I think you made a good call at the ER requesting pain meds and getting onto the stasis.

  Bladder sludge may be an on-going problem even with good hydration although this will help. As Andi stated, there is not a whole lot known about the cause of sludge in rabbits – it’s just not been studied enough. There are lots of theories but not alot of real knowns.
  
  Lots of activity is recommended – usually the less mobile rabbits are prone to sludge.
  
  You may want to do a urinalysis.

  It’s hard to believe that a week has passed since the ER. Jessica is doing fantastic. She is back up to her thumping & bunny butting ways. We’ve been chasing her & forcing her out of her pen to “play” with the kitten (supervised of course). She is eating well on her own & pottying very well. We don’t think she is drinking enough. I added some carrot juice to her water bottle yesterday evening, but it doesn’t look like the line has moved. I’ll pick up some pedialyte grape tonight. She goes back in tomorrow for a follow up. She no longer is stasis “y” but I think this bladder sludge is going to be chronic & ongoing. Thank goodness for bunny insurance
