Just thought I’d ask for some opinions.  All week last week my mom had the girls and I worked on our new house with my husband.  We were gone from 7:00am-7:00pm.  I’ve never seen him so happy for us to be home or beg so much for attention.  I don’t want him to be lonely.  We’ve been home for 2 days now but are going to be working probably more than 12 hours a day for Fri, Sat and Sun.

Is there anything I can do for him to help him not be so lonely while we work the rest of this month?  I’d hate to take him with us everyday since we will be laying floors, painting and cleaning.  With all the fumes and chemicals it’d be best for him to stay home.

        Any thoughts?

I’m gone from home 5 days a week from 8AM to 6PM and Sammy seems to be fine with it. He is happy to play and have his running time when I get home of course.

I don’t think it’s a huge issue that Hugo willl be alone, especially considering that you’re saying it’s a short term situation.

Three days without people for most of the day shouldn’t be an issue I think. He’s lucky he usually gets to spend time with you throughout the day normally in other circumstances

Yes. I’m a stay at home mom and I homeschool my girls. So, we’re always home. There will be another full week that we will be working on the house too. I’m just an over concerned bunny mom. He’s use to us always being here and the when we leave like that he starving for attention by the time we get home. I’ve been giving him his dinner on the couch with me in my lap I feel so bad! =)

I also just added a litter box, water bowl and a box of hay in my bedroom today. That way he has the freedom to stay in here longer with me when I am doing the laundry or relaxing while waiting for my husband to get home. He’s always been allowed in the bedroom he just never stayed long without the other things in here too. He seems to be enjoying it in here with me tonight while I fold all my laundry. He’s good company too! =)

He’s definitely lucky that he gets all the attention, and as pet owners I think the most important thing is that we’re giving as much attention as we can to our pets

Since it’s a temporary situation, even if it is for another few weeks, don’t feel bad about it. He’ll be fine I’m sure as long as he has some interaction with people every day. A lot of bunnies live on a regular basis with the ‘reduced’ attention that you’ll be able to give him in the next few weeks. The more play and interaction they get the better, of course, but I think they can deal fine for short periods of time with less interaction than usual.

plus, does your bunny go into a coma during the day? cause mine certainly does. He’s no company at all between 1PM and 5 or 6PM lol

He has his sleepy times but he still comes out to say hi and the run to another spot to continue his nap. He use to not want to be bothered from 11-4. Now he’s a little more friendly. You can’t be on the couch or a bed without him jumping on you anymore. He’ll lay next to me for an hour at night while I watch a show now. He just wants to be with us as much as he can. I was starting to think maybe he thinks we’re going to leave him again. I don’t know what his previous situations were. I don’t know if he was neglected or abandoned. Again, just the over cautious bunny mom. LOL =)
