        Hello –

I am a first time rabbit owner and our little George came to us by surprise a few months ago; I found him in a box in a dumpster outside of work and just had to give the little guy a home.   Georgey has had weepy eyes and I’ve done the research on that, but as of late the hair around his right eye, from the duct heading towards his nose, has been disappearing .  I’ve cleaned the area with warm water but am not sure if I should wait it out or take the little guy to the vet?  There is no swelling or redness, just a weepy right eye with hair loss.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

        Warmest regards,

        Julie

I’d take him in, especially if it has been an ongoing weepy eye issue

Definitely take him in. Has he already been seen for the eye problem? If it’s something that has been chronic, that’s what is causing the hair loss. He is probably trying to groom the area to keep it clean and the adverse effect is grooming away the fur.

Thank you for giving Georgey a home! That’s so sad he was dumped (but all too common).

Bun definately need a look to see what’s going on and a teeth check too, which can be cause of some eye problems.

Yes, I would take him to the vet. Georgey would benefit from a physical exam because there are a multitude of causes for weepy eye.
