  Sooo… We bought some of those wood stove pellet type things made out of recycled paper for buns litter box. She was doing really well with them at first, but then I started to notice she wasn’t eating her food. So, in short, she started eating the paper pellets in her litter box. Idk what she was thinking! I mean, she’d been devouring her hay that she had in the box, so every time I saw her, I thought she was eating hay. Anyway, just a heads up if any of you have bunnies who think paper is food lol. She’s doing fine, no issues. Can’t believe she’d think that was more tasty than her food. She loooooves food time. Craziness.

  That’s pretty crazy! I’ve caught Bisto munching on one once, but to the point of not eating their food? Glad she’s ok!

  You might want to try the untreated wood pellets. One of my bunnies used tp chew any paper litter he could find, but he’s nver tried to chew the wood litter.

  my old girl Kari used to eat any litter that wasnt wood, she thought the litter was delicious!

  I’ve had that issue with the recycled paper pellets before, but never with WSP. Another option would be to do a layer of hay over the top…

  WSP are available at some hardware stores (Lowe’s, Home Depot), agriculture-type stores (Tractor Supply Co.), and I’ve even seen them at bulk chains (Sam’s Club, BJ’s, Costco). Call around and see if any of your local stores carry them. They are typically available in 40 pound bags, at an average cost of $6 per bag. So they are a very, very cheap litter alternative to overpriced petstore litters.
  
  They are only available seasonally, so now would be a good time to start looking for them! If your local stores don’t carry them, check to see if other locations a bit farther away do. In my case, our local hardware store does not carry them (we are in a suburban area), but by just driving about 20 mins away to a more “rural” area, I can purchase them. They are definitely worth the drive!!! We go once a year and buy about 8 bags (for 2 buns) and this lasts us until the following year.
  
  Horse stall bedding is similar and also safe to use as litter. With WSP, be sure they don’t have added accelerant.

  A pet supply store here that the RA people do bunny groomign at every month carried Wood Stove Pellets too

  Oh, I’m sorry everyone. I wasn’t clear. It wasn’t actually wood stove pellets, it was paper pellets that look exactly like the woodstove pellets. I’ve never tried the woodstove pellet kind. I’m going to stick to recycled paper that is like carefresh. I’ve made some on my own before that she liked, but it’s getting colder now so I won’t be able to leave it out to dry in the sun. I was trying to save money

  If your trying to save money the wood stove pellets are actually very cheap. I pick those up in homedepot when they have them. Otherwise I buy large bags of (pretty much) the same thing, but labelled wood based litter in pet stores. They are made for cats usually but some brands now have a ‘critter’ line which-anyways they are all the same thing (WSP) but significantly cheaper then paper litters I’ve used
