PJ lays in his litter box, which is fine, but he constantly has poop stuck on his fur!

In his litter box I put hay on one side. He eats the hay, but poops on the other side and then lays in it! I have fluffy beds in there but it seems like he doesn’t like them.

What can I do? I want to make him a bed he’d rather lay in than in his own poop!

Hmm. Rabbit poop shouldn’t really be sticky enough to stick to his fur. Does he have normal hard round poop?

And you can’t really make them sleep elsewhere, I know my Smudge loves laying in her litter box. She likes her box

Yeah, it’s like hard on the outside, soft on the inside. I know this because I’ve stepped on one lol.

His fur is just soo long. I think he lays on it so hard, he gets to the squishy part and it sticks.

I don’t know. I’ll try more than one litterbox and see if that helps

We put loads of hay on the litterbox, instead of one end. Both our buns lay in their litter boxes too, and Frankie seems to end up covered in poo but he grooms it out.

Good idea. I’ll put hay over the whole box. He’s a silly bun

I was actually gonna post something asking if other people’s buns like to lay in their litter box cause I thought it was odd that Bud sleeps in his litter box…but I guess alotta buns do it. Glad to know he’s not the only one.
If I put hay in his box he’ll often dig it out cause he doesn’t like how I put it in there or something. He’s so finnicky sometimes. lol

It could be worse….Bagheera loves to do binkies and spin/jumps in his litterbox at 4am, so the box bounces around and hits the wall over and over again and again lol… and of course sleeping in the litterbox is great too when you’re a weirdo bun!!

Litterboxes are comfortable for rabbits also because of the ability to hold their body temperature and because they are soft as compost tends to be… . Even if you give a second, clean, one it will end up with poop in it ~
