Tomorrow is the day I will be getting Scarlett out of her much too small cage and building her a new habitat. The plan I’ve settled on is a NIC Condo: 2 grids deep x 4 Long x 4High with shelves on the inside. Scarlett stays in my spare room and generally has free roam of that room when I am home. Soon I’ll be having to clear out my storage unit and the only thing I planned to take back from it was my bike. Generally my bike can only stay in my spare room and I worry about Ms. Scarlett trying to chew the tires. Do you guys thing she will?
These are the things I’m planning on purchasing for her new habitat:
-NIC cubes
– wood dowel rods for shelf support
– corrogated plastic sheets for the bottom of the cage and against the wall behind the cage
– Plastic stair runner for extra floor coverage (I have all carpeted floors)
– Zip ties
– Some sort of clip for the doors on the cage (anyone have thoughts on what to use here?)
I want her to have a nice big cage during the day and then when I’m home she can have the run of that room. Am I missing anything?
