I’m not sure if this is something I should be concerned with.  It started after he got the sores on his feet.  He seems to go potty where he’s laying (on his pet beds or on his towels).  It’s not all the time though.  I don’t know if he doesn’t want to get, up, jump in his box or if the wood pellet litter is bothering him?  I’ve been cleaning his litter box twice a day so it’s extra clean while the sores are open.  I also need to leave the towels and things on the floor because of his foot hurting.

I’ve noticed he’s not jumping on things as much right now, he kicks even when I put the iodine on (he didn’t do that before the 4th spot was drained by the vet) and his leg shakes even when he licks it.

Should I be concerned that this is going to affect his habits and are there any suggestions?  It’s getting hard to wash all these towels everyday.

Oh dear. I do think it’s probably pain related until his feet heal. Why don’t you try some Carefresh or Aspen shavings in the time being while his feet heal.

Also ask the vet about metacam to help relieve the inflammation and reduce the pain.

OK. I’ll call over there right now.

I went through this with Sophie when she had bladder sludge.  The metacam did wonders, and I was told to add more roughage (hay) to her diet and that she was predisposed to it.  The litterbox habits should kick back in when he is no longer in pain, but I would most definitely call the vet!

I got him the Metacam on Friday and I can tell he’s feeling better.

                  That’s good news.
