So Sammy has been doing this new thing for a couple days where he stands in a corner and jumps onto the wall as far as he can go, essentially trying to climb the flat wall and inevitably sliding back down to the floor. He gets probably 3 ft or so up each time.

The first time he did this was in his pen, the day after his neuter at night. He didn’t have his run time the day before and that whole day either and he was getting antsy in his pen. He stood on his litter box in the far corner of his pen and jumped up, reaching the wall above his pen (which is 29 inches) and then falling back down. Since he cleared his pen I’ve been putting a sheet over it now to make sure he doesn’t get out at night or when I’m at work. He hasn’t jumped on the open side of his pen though, just towards the wall.

Yesterday he did the same wall jumping/climbing thing in a corner of my living room by my tv during his first post-neuter evening of run time. Tonight he did that same thing during run time in two corners, once each.

What is he doing? He looks up intently at the wall very focused, then jumps. Almost like a cat trying to catch and insect, but there’s nothing on the wall. Anyone’s bunny do this too? He’s so weird…

Bee does this too when she’s on my bed, she likes to stretch up as far as she can reach, she’s looking at something, then jumps up a few feet like she’s trying to wall climb too!

Hannah doesn’t quite jump, but she does stretch up the wall as far as she can reach, like she’s trying to climb up it. She especially does this if she knows there’s a door in that corner that she wants to get out of!

Phew! It’s good at least to know that other bunnies do this too. It scares the daylights out of me every time! I’m worried he’s going to hurt himself on his way back down, so now when I see him focusing like that I tell him now and redirect his attention.

Doing it on the flat walls outside of his pen when he’s having his run time would probably not be harmful for him, but he jumps in his pen corner surrounded by walls too, and he obviously slides along the pen side on his way down then… in which case he could definitely hurt himself.

I guess I have to keep doing the super fun sheet-on-the-pen thing from now on. add that to my bunny to do list! lol

Your bunny is so pretty.    Is he one of the Thrianta’s?   Lovely color he has.

Well….  lately I had been giving Cotton a blueberry for his going to bed now dessert.   HE has been obstinate now about goign to bed.  So last nite he jumped to the middle of the front of Ruby’s cage and kind of fell/ jumped down.

I finally figured out what he was wanting.   HE wanted raisins for his going to bed now dessert.   I got him raisin and he went promptly into his cage just like b4
