Well, my buns are due for their pedicures again- seems like I just had them done. Poor BunBun was just at the vet a couple weeks ago with that awful bout of GI stasis- I hate to stuff them both back in the carrier and take them back in. It was such a terrifying experience for both of them, with bunny getting so sick and them being separated. Do you all think it’s cruel to take them back to the vet so soon? Maybe I’m just being dramatic. They always gets scared in the car- they huddle together and their noses go a mile a minute and sometimes they tremble a bit
. I’m afraid that the trip may cause BunBun to get GI stasis again, although it’s never happened before after a vet trip. But they really need their nails done, and Nelli must be dematted.
I’m wondering… does anyone know of any experienced rabbit people who make house calls to do grooming? I live in Upton, Massachusetts- near Milford, MA and Worcester, MA. It seems that to would be a great job for someone who knows how to handle/groom bunnies. I could do BunBun’s nails, I’m sure, but my Nelli is such an animal, I’d be afraid she would break her back struggling. I have never even attempted to pick her up- she barely lets me brush her. So, if anybody knows of a traveling rabbit groomer in the Massachusetts area, let me know please!
Another thing I’m curious about- does anyone else have a very wild rabbit who needed to have matts removed? If so, did the bunny have to be sedated or were the groomers able to just dematt them while restraining them? I don’t want Nelli and BunBun to have to stay at the vet’s, but I wonder if it’s possible to clip Nell’s matts off without sedation. Then again, if they can cut her nails without drugging her up…? Oh boy, all this worry over a simple greooming procedure- I really know how to stress out, don’t I?
