I want to scream!!  All my cats and dogs have serious flea problems and we cant seem to get it under control.  Our vet says a lot of people are having problems this year and they are starting to think the fleas have built up a resistence to Frontline, which is what our pets get.  I am trying to tackle this problem full force, but goodness there are nine of them and one of me.  My maine coon kitty is even losing his pretty fur and is on meds now.  But Ive talked to the vet and all the cats and dogs gets baths in dawn dishsoap every few days, they have revolution now, treated the yard, vaccum everyday, and I brush them with a flea comb twice a day.  So far the buns have not gotten them, its a miracle.   But this vet that my cats and dogs go to does not do rabbits, so she could not answer my questions.  And to ask my rabbit vet would cost me an arm and a leg, they are ridiculously expensive.  First, do you guys think I should fork over the money for 4 (Possibily soon to be 5) doses as prevention? Or since our precious little rabbits are so delicate, not mess around with that chemical junk until/if they actually get the darn fleas? And which kind is safe for buns, frontline or revolution? Im guessing revolution, but guessing is never good with our fluffy tailed friends.

I use Revolution. That sounds like a frustrating problem!

You’d want to use revolution on the rabbits. If they do not show signs of an infestation now, and you can keep your rabbits in a sort of quarantine until the infestation has cleared, you could go without prevention on the rabbits, but I personally would not chance it — a flea can even hitch a ride on your shoes or whatever and get to your bunnies.

Okay. I will pick 4 doses of revolution today then. Kitten size doses right? Seems like all my errands these days are for the buns!! Yesterday I picked up a 50lbs bag of hay cubes (they get one or two as a treat each day), then went 30 minutes out of the way to the only store that carries big bags of Oxbow pellets. This morning I had to rush to kroger for greens, because I didnt want to get them last night and they were not pleased with breakfast being so late. Now today I need litter from tractor supply and revolution from the vet. Lol I really hope they appreciate this.

What a pain!! You’re lucky the bunbuns haven’t gotten them yet! Ditto on revolution. Never ever give rabbits Frontline. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/groom.html#Fleas

                  Now….

I only found three fleas yesterday when i comb the dogs!! Woot woot! Maybe this will be over soon.

Possibly soon to be 5… I dont know!! Their is a stray white and brown mini rex running loose around my aunts house. Its been there for maybe two weeks, everyone Ive talked to in the neighborhood sees him all the time. Thankfully Ive pieced together his routine and hang out spots by talking to all these neighbors, but i still haven’t been able to catch him yet. I chase him all around the neighborhood and in peoples yards, some of the neighbors don’t bother asking what i’m doing in their yard anymore haha. But when my aunt sees him she calls me, and if I’m not working or have class I go over and try to catch him. Ive come close several times, but its hard to catch a tiny fast rabbit in an entire neighborhood all by yourself. I got a live trap and set it last night where I know he passes by. No bunny this morning, but maybe tomorrow. If I catch him I’m not sure what I’ll do. This aunt is always bugging me to give her Felix, she loves loves loves Felix. So maybe she would love this bun and keep it, or I might have to hand over Felix to her to keep this mini rex. Or maybe I’ll see if HRS will take the mini rex in. I really don’t know, I’d love to keep everyone, but that’s 5 buns… seems like a lot lol.

You really have to treat the bunnies too with Advantage or Revolution. I would talk to your vet about treating the house. And depending on what you flea product you are using on your other pets- Dawn dishsoap can strip the oil and flea product off the hair- NOT a good thing when you are paying $$ for flea control. ALL of you pets will probably have to be on a monthly flea treatment for 3-4 months to make sure all like cycles of the fleas are eliminated.

That is so frustrating. I would consider a kitten sized dose of Advantage for the bunnies if you still think you need some and want an alternative to bypass any resistance.
