I took Lolli and some laundry (plus a pen, blanket, water bottle, litter box, litter, meant to take pellets but forgot) over to my mom’s today. She went outside for the first time and was perfectly fine on the grass. My mom lives about a mile or so away from a race track and of course there were races today. She didn’t care for those sounds at all and would climb into my lap for comfort. She was a bit scared inside as well. My mom just pulled up all the carpet and had the original wood floors refurbished or whatever. So Lolli had to stay in her pen in the kitchen anyways. Which was what I had planned – not her house, she doesn’t get to roam. lol
True to her nature though, she wanted to explore. She soon settled down and became comfortable and even did the superman a few times. Plus she periscoped. All normal for her when she’s comfortable where she’s at. My mom was a bit surprised by both behaviors. lol When my mom’s been over, both her and Eddie would usually hide out somewhere, with Lolli coming out to investigate. But neither one would get relaxed enough to lay stretched out or anything. So it was pretty cool my mom got to see both.
Soooo fatty doesn’t fit into the small animal harness I had for Eddie. LOL I really didn’t think it was going to fit anyways. But my mom had a cat harness and leash so I fitted that on her. I know the cat/dog harnesses are iffy for rabbits, but I made sure she didn’t have any problems while we were outside. Late afternoon/early evening I took her back out with the harness and leash on and she explored the back yard a bit. Once she gets over her initial fear of whatever, she is perfectly fine and her curiosity gets the better of her and off she goes.
I kept having to hold her when she got scared. I think I held her more today than I have since I got her. hehe We are of course back at home and she won’t have much to do with me again. Which is fine.
I haven’t asked my mom about this but I know she used to get her lawn treated for weeds and bugs or whatever the normal lawn treatment is. So there aren’t that many bugs at her place. I don’t when the last treatment was, but we got a heavy rain the other night, so I know her yard was fine. But do you think she needs to be treated for fleas or have some of the flea/tick advantage or frontline put on her? I can’t remember which brand is bunny safe. Or should I just watch her for signs of fleas? This isn’t going to be an all the time thing. It’s a pain in the butt dragging all her stuff all over the place. lol
Lolli is not showing any signs of grieving. i do find this odd since she was so close to Eddie but she would’ve figured out he wasn’t coming back by now wouldn’t she? And if she was going to have grief, she’d show it by now right? Obviously I have never dealt with this before so I have no clue.
On a side note, I think I will begin the search for another bunny in the next week or so. I’m not rushing it. Maybe meeting a few and just seeing out it goes. I may find one the first time or it may take me a month or so. Who knows. But I have spent the night since I got back from my mom’s bawling about Eddie and just letting it out. I think he would be majorly disapproving of a new bun in his territory but he would want me to give another bunny a forever home and sharing my love.
