SOoooo…. We adopted a new cat into our family. We’ve been a rabbit only family for 2 years since our La Chatte crossed her bridge.

We went to the SPCA and interviewed a few potentials…then we “tested” the cats with a very sweet rabbit to make sure the cat didn’t have an excessive prey drive.

The “finalist” was Loki – a male cat of about 3 years of age. Freshly neutered. His first intros to Coco and Jackson were pretty innocuous.  Of course we later found out he was getting very sick, so I realize that the mellow meeting may have been his illness.  He had to go to the Cat Hospital for nearly a week – and just got out this past Friday.

Coco, in particular, rejoiced when the cat “disappeared”. Binkied like I hadn’t seen her binky in ages.

So you can imagine her displeasure when the cat re-appeared.  To this end, she has started urine marking, with poos to follow EVERYWHERE. And I mean Serious Urine marking. Puddles of it.

I assumed that it must be the Cat. There was one incident last night where she bolted – and he gave chase…which freaked her out further.  He got the boot from the bedroom and we have been keeping the door shut to preserve the Rabbit sanity.

Jackson has stayed under the bed and out of sight. It is Coco who is doing the intense marking. Am I to assume that this will be similar to introducing a new Rabbit? As in marking will decrease after what feels like an eternity of intense cleaning and disinfecting?

Anyone else seen a rabbit mark specifically for a new feline member of the house?

And Now me and my bottle of vinegar needs to go clean up the massive pudddle….

Oh Coco! Though I can understand why she’d be very protective of her territory. She’d want to preserve the good she’s got compared to her former “home”.
I have no experience in this, just passing on HRS link on cats and rabbits ic case you haven’t looked over it. http://www.rabbit.org/journal/2-11/cats-and-rabbits.html
I suppose, get Coco back on with litter habits like you have done in the past and do some positive interaction sessions with her, Jackson and Loki. Maybe in a shared common room such as the living room?
