Hi guys, haven’t posted here in a while but I know I can come here for bunny  support!

My rabbit is grinding her teeth this afternoon… i’m afraid she has a tummy ache.

She was fine this morning when I gave her breakfast, then during the day she normally sleeps in the loung or study, usually where there is someone in the room with her – however today she went to sleep in her box in the study while we were in the lounge.

Just now she ran back in to the lounge grinding her teeth, I offered her a raisin and she tried to eat it but kept dropping it ouf of her mouth, eventually just leaving it there on the floor (it’s one of her favourites so this is unusual).

We also discovered that she has peed on the couch in the study…she is very well litter trained and does not pee outside of her litterbox…ever. The only other time she has done this is last week, when we toook her to a new vet …she peed on the towel in her carrier…which she also never does. I hope the  vet didn’t traumatise her (they took her out of the room to give her vaccination)!

Anyway, we put her in a burrito to try to check her mouth incase there was something in there, but she had it shut so tight! So we gave her some simethcone drops – she hates it and she just let it dribble onto her chin.

Now she is in a bun loaf near her house.

I am worried about her, not sure what I should do next?

Hi Naz, haven’t seen you on here for ages!
Sorry to hear Hershey is having some trouble. How was she after her calici shot? Mine are normally a bit off the day after.

Like you, I think her teeth might be the problem. Or maybe a urinary issue if she’s peeing out of the box. I sort of think they can do this when not feeling well from other things though… not sure. Has she attempted to eat any food on her own today?

One thing you could try is soft greens and also this pellet mash. You microwave some pellets with a little water for about 20 seconds then fluff the mixture up. Wait for it to cool and serve. You can add some mash pumpkin or apple puree if you want.

Have you been able to feel her tumm?. I find with mine that when they have gas pain, this is the only time they let me rub their tummy – so doing that must give them some relief.

Since she ate this morning you’re probably ok waiting until tomorrow to get her looked at.

Thanks jerseygirl… been really busy with work and study!

she was actually fine after her shot, normal behaviour… but that was a week ago.

She has now eaten the raisin, but is not interested in anything else. I put some hay under her face and she took it in her teeth and threw it away.

Also, she is doing this weird sitting thing that I haven’t seen her do, so she must be in some pain.

she is jumping in and out of her litterbox as well, but there is nothing in there.

Is she pressing her tummy down? Or laying down, getting straight back up; repeat.
I’ve seen the 1st action when mine have gas and the second when a possible UTI but never certain on that.

seems like she was pressing her butt down then getting back into a bun loaf. she is moving though, she’s joined us in the lounge now…still in bun loaf

According to everything I’ve read, teeth grinding is usually sign of a stomach upset. I listen for it in our bunnies when we feed them new veggies to make sure they’re okay.

Hi jerseygirl…she actually bounced right back in a few hours that night, she is fine and back to normal now.

However I will be taking her back to her normal vet for another check up.

I am still shocked about her peeing on the couch…it was very unusual!

thanks so much for your support and concern I get so anxious when she is not her normal self
