does any disease will cause rabbit’s whiskers be cut off (in a short time)?

i’m no sure what’s going on with my rabbit

but i’m sure that he is sick.

and his whiskers are cut off unnatural (not cut off from the root)

he also has other symptom, but i want to ask this one most.

if you know about that, please give me some suggestion. thanks

I have no idea. I think any vet is going to look at all the symptoms and the condition of the rabbit when they do a physical examination.

Is this rabbit by it’s self? Sometimes other rabbits (or other pets) will chew the whiskers down. I have a female rabbit with short whiskers from over grooming.
Also, what breed of rabbit is yours? Rex rabbits have curly ‘funny’ looking whiskers, which is a natural part of their breed.

If you feel your rabbit may be ill, it would be best to have your Vet look him/her over.

If you’re sure he is sick, then you really must take him to a vet right away.
One helpful thing to do is make a list of his symptoms to bring with you, such as the broken whiskers, so you don’t forget to tell the vet everything you have observed. It might all add up to something that the vet is famiilar with and can treat accurately.’

Keep us posted on what the vet thinks is going on.

You last posted your vet advised to give him bromelain to assist with his tears. I must admit, I’ve never heard of using it for that before.  Are you still doing this? I’m wondering if this could be a side effect???    Even if he gets some actually on his whiskers.

Bromelain and papain are enzymes that break down proteins. In rabbits we sometimes give them to assist in passing hair out of the gut.

Animals can lose whiskers or they break when they’re in poor health due to some other condition. I know you’ve been trying to find out what is exactly the matter with him.

I agree that you should see a vet. Are you happy with the one you have been seeing? I understand it has been difficult to find a vet and get answers. It is obvious you care a lot for your rabbit so I really hope you can get some better answers from the vet for his care.

he had ate bromelain for 11days. (has stopped it days ago)

i think bromelain is a nutriment, (besides, it didn’t have any effect…)

so i don’t doubt it is related to bromelain.

because he has eat vasodilator for a long time, i’m afraid that his potassium is too high.

i just know that cat’s whiskers might connect to potassium, so i wonder whether rabbit is alike.

i’ll take him to draw blood tomorrow.

                    thanks you all
