Back in June I decided Lola and I had to get serious about losing some weight. Last year I had lost from 270 down to 255 and Lola had gone from 7lb 12 oz (her weight when I adopted her) down to 7, mostly through making sure she got plenty of exercise time.
It was hard rationing her pellets when she lived with Daisy and then with the group for a short time, but now she’s in a condo by herself and is on a 99.5% diet of hay and lots more veggies. She gets 12 pellets twice a day. I know that small amount may seem silly and I should cut them out all together, but it seems very important to her to have those few minutes of AAAHHHHHHH.
For the first few weeks, she’d gulp them down and tear up her condo looking for more. Now she eats slowly and enjoys them one at a time and is content when they’re gone.
In the little bit of time early in the morning when the temps are actually cool, I take her outside to the fenced area and she loves to run around in the grass. Between that and lots of out time in the house she is pretty active. Even at her heaviest she was an enthusiastic climber and jumper.
As of this morning she now weighs 4 lbs 14 oz!!!! On an active week she’s losing an ounce and I’m very proud of her. Since I handle her a lot more and picking her up might mean she’s going outside she doesn’t bite me as much either. Until she realizes that we’re going to the table for a brushing and then it’s game on!
Edited to put before and after photos together…..
Photos on the left are BEFORE at 7+ lbs, the right this morning at 4 lbs 14 oz. Now you really can see that deer shaped face I hear about on rexes 😉

I know we had a weight loss thread going before, it would be nice to start one again. One of my goals was to be able to have enough lap to click the bunnies nails there and to be able to get down on the floor to interact with them and it is getting easier now.
Lola’s on a hay/veggie diet, I’m doing Atkins (which has really changed a lot since I did it 10 years ago)
Anyone else buddying up with their bunny to lose weight?
