Demi thinks she’s spiderman or a freakin’ monkey, I think…she climbs. She climbs up the sides of her NIC-home..it is very odd. It’s not causing any problems, I really just want to know if anyone else knows a bun that does this?

She finds it VERY amusing, and just chills at the top for a while before climbing back down to the safety of the ground. She’ll do this for 30 minutes straight, just climbing around…kind of mind-boggling for me to watch. But entertaining at least, so that’s good these days.

When I first got Eddie as a baby, he decided he need to climb up the side of his cage. I peeked around the around to see what he was doing and there he was, on top of the cage. I had my dad make me a board to sit up there to prevent him from escaping from his pen. lol And my friend’s rabbit climbed up her bookcase to get to the treats. So yeah, some are quite the climbers.

If she can hang out there for a while than she’s fine. But she’s desperately in need of pictures. She’s saying “Mom! Photo op here – get that flashy box already!” I have to see this because Sammy won’t climb on anything.

It’s perfectly normal. Just be sure all is smooth so she doesn’t cut herself or catch a toenail on something. Maybe check out the spot below in case she decides to go over. A soft landing is best.

Oh, and if you don’t want to have a permanent top but need something in short notice to cover the top in case of emergency (or company, etc.) have a sheet handy with several clips. You can pull the sheet taught over the top and clamp it down to keep her inside. Fold it away with the clamps when you want to store it.

Cotton Boo used to do that.     When he was a wee youngun I was starting him out in a small play space and a litterbox.  He was doing great so after a few weeks I let him roam the living room.   Then he chewed through his first wire.

So back to the xpen til I could get cord covers.

I watched him one day to see how he got out of the pen.   He would stare at it   Then leap as high as he could to the 2nd to top rung.  Hang there for a moment then climb to the top rung and leap onto my sewing table.  What a character.

I’ve never seen it personally, but I have heard about ‘climbing bunnies’. At the shelter some pens had to have blankets clipped to the top. It was mostly the young bunnies doing all the climbing.
I wonder if Dutch bunnies are more into this as they seem to be very athletic?

My buns don’t do this (well, Hannah does like to get in high places, like the back of a couch, or the dining room table) but one of the shelter buns would jump up and cling to the side of his cage like a monkey. Funniest thing!
