LOL for some reason Fern has this one spot in her cage that she LOVES to dig and chew at. It is right next to her litter box. She digs at it to get behind the litterbox and then eats and digs at the hay that has fallen behind the litterbox (she makes it go all over the place too). I guess it is ok because all she chews is the coroplast of her cage and she is not damaging anything expensive. But it is so funny, every day she digs there. I ended up tyiing a tube there and tying the litterbox to the side of the cage so that she cannot get behind it and make a mess.

But I just think it is so funny that bunny’s do not make vocal noise, but they definately find their own way to make noise! She is so funny because she even knows I don’t like it when she digs and chews there. I hear her chewing from all the way downstairs and I run up the stairs to catch her in the act but when I am up there she looks at me like, “Oh no, caught red handed.” and then she jumps in her litterbox and pretends to eat hay innocently.

I still find the devious attitudes of bunnies so amusing! Many would be annoyed to no end, but I am amused to no end!

It is so funny I think Fern NEVER sleeps, because now it is summer and i am home all day every day and I hear her digging all day and sometimes she does it at night too!

Thistle is always being a good boy just laying around but Fern is the naughty one! She knows it too!

Ah, I just felt like talking about my bunnies because everyone I try to talk to about them (friends and family) are uninterested. It just gives me a greater urge to talk about my bunnies.

MW, I know how you feel about the noisy chewing to be heard.
Just yesterday Sammy was chewing on the bars of her new x-pen. It was quiet!!!! Her old cage was soooooo much louder when she chewed. I found myself going “ahhhh. Peace at last.” And she got in her chewing time, so we were both content. (Well, that is unless she wanted out and wasn’t content.)

I tell bunny stories to people at work sometimes and they are truly amazed. If I’m brief. *rolls eyes*

Yup right there with ya Moonlight W. Mr. Blu LOVES to dig at my wood floor (thankfully he does no damage). He just started this habit and he does it at random in the corner where he gets his salads but my guess is he does it to get our attention sometimes (or food?). And it works bc it drives me mad!! haha My husband and I try to laugh but also feel bad bc he probably thinks all that work is accomplishing something! At times it seems like he’s trying to get to the small strands of hay outside his pen (he digs right at the edge of the pen AND pulls on the pen with his teeth like he’s trying to get out). But if he would just turn around and go the other direction, he has free range of another room to play in! Silly bun..he just wants to be everywhere… Then he completely exhausts himself and has to nap for a while..

Oreo makes noise to, but not so much digging…She pulls on her pen when she wants to come out and loops her sheet (that lines her pen) through the bars in the pen grids. I sometimes can’t unwind it she gets it in there so tight!

Oh and another noise…how loud are your buns when they’re drinking water from their bowls!!?? When all is quiet in the house and you hear gurgle gurgle gurgle…haha

They sure do! Bindi LOVES to make noise (and a huge mess too!). When he had a smaller cage with a plastic bottom he would dig at one corner and it would drive us nuts! He would dig, dig, dig and then make a scraping noise with his teeth on the plastic! Now that he has a bigger cage, he uses his cardboard box to dig which isn’t so loud but he also found a way to make noise with his condo. He rattles the door really violently if he wants something or dinner is late. I always feel bad if we have a houseguest sleeping on the couch about 10 feet from his cage. Waky Waky, lol… Rabbits are such brats!!!

Lol I should set up one of those nighttime recorders so you could see the circus in my room at night. Somebunny enjoys chewing on my box spring right after I fall asleep everynight. I kick my feet on my mattress in hops to stop them…most of the time that doesn’t work and I have to poke whoever it us under my bed doing it. Now the newest and latest loud thing to do in the morning, or at night, when you want pellets, or when you want out…is Bagheera clawing at the wire. That’s a huge 6’x4′ chunk of wire that resonates in my room lol….ughhhhhhh. Bee and Indy hop over to him like…”what the heck you doin dude???? You can’t come out here this is our area!!” The only time Bun gets noisy is when she flings her box around her pen. It’s a good thing I’m a heavy sleeper for the most part!

oh yeah!  me too!  my first bun had a wooden carrot toy that always appeared out on top of his enclosure every morning.  i asked my roommate at the time if he knew about it.  apparently every morning he would have to take the toy away because binky would drag the wooden carrot back & forth & back & forth  back & forth along the enclosure wires like a convict with a metal cup.  being as my roommate was not a rabbit person he did not find this to be enjoyable.  haha.

Moose has taken to chewing the bars of his pen by his litterbox every morning around 5 am. And he has also taken to digging at one corner of his pen, I guess he thinks he needs more out time

LOL, bunnies are so silly. Oliver doesn’t dig or chew much in his cage, but this afternoon when I was cleaning the hedgehog cages, Oliver hopped in one where I had just put fresh shavings and proceeded to dig to his heart’s content. It was adorable to watch, but not-so-fun to clean up.

Mine chew on cardboard. How in the heck they can make such a loud noise chewing on cardboard is beyond me but they manage to do it. LOL

When I had Eddie by himself, I had to be up with him in the mornings. He was free range and most of the time, I slept on my couch. Well he’d start out by jumping up on me anywhere between 6am and 7am. Then if that didn’t work, he started running around making racket – running thru the vertical blinds to the sliding door, chewing on boxes, jumping back on me, jumping on other things. Just anything to get me up. And of course the whole time I am sleepily yelling at him to knock it off. Finally I’d get up by 8am complete with yelling “FINE! I’M UP!” He’d sit and look at my innocently. Then hop off to go take a nap. grrrrrr lol

Haha all your stories are really funny, Yea bunnies make such good alarm clocks! If I didn’t have bunnies I would probably be sleeping in every day of the summer, but at about 6:30 to 7:00 Fern decides it’s digging time and goes on a spree. Luckily it is not that early that she decides to dig or else I would have to lock her OUT of her cage at night lol.

apparently every morning he would have to take the toy away because binky would drag the wooden carrot back & forth & back & forth back & forth along the enclosure wires like a convict with a metal cup.

Haha that is so funny! Silly bunny, at least he knew what got people’s attention! I’d love to see something like that.
