Hey BB!  I’ve proudly finished the foster buns’ new habitat.  If everything goes well, I will adopt them and they will be foster buns no more!

The materials for the habitat (6’x6′ using 2 pens) added up to $76.  Including the furnishings, the total for everything here is $136.  Even though I got almost everything cheap from craigslist and thrift stores, it really adds up!

Nice! I love bargain adventures – and what a great use of a carrier top!

I have been thinking on going bargain hunting for a covered litter box myself to make a nice diggy box.

If I were you I would swap the 36 and 30 – have the taller on the non-wall side in case they too start craving an “adventure” of their own!

Awesome! I’m gonna have to do that as well I find many things that are meant for something else but I buy for bunny. I am just paranoid about whether or not the ingredients (no other chemicals) were used to make baskets, etc!!

Oh, I saw another member (Catalina?) had this as a hay rack!! I found one at Ikea for 1.99!!! It was such a steal!! I forgot it in my bf’s trunk, otherwise I would have set it up by now. It has holes on the top, so it can be hung by twine or something.. Here it is. I got mine in pink, but it is in white as well!

That is a good idea! Plastic bag holder as a hay rack. Like it!

We got carpet pieces (2 1/2′ squares) that had a rubber bottom at the dollar store.  I guess like indoor/outdoor carpet.  We like them because we often re-arrange their daytime area (which is our family room) so we can place them wherever needed in a very weak attempt of keeping them off the carpet…doesn’t work too well!  Lainey shed BIG TIME.  We also stop in the ARF consignment shop often.  We’ve bought cloth placemats, towels, pillow cases & blankets/fleece for .50 cents to $1 each.  So even if they chew them up, we don’t feel bad tossing them out.  They really like to chew on jeans.  The first time Lainey did it I literally took all the pieces & placed them to make sure she wasn’t eating any of it…and she wasn’t.  Since then I watched her & Gulliver & they just chew & tug on them & leave a very large mess!  We also got a large dog pen for $20 at a garage sale & used the base under their litter boxes & the bars as an x-pen but it was pretty tall & bulky & since they are pretty much free range it wasn’t needed any longer.  Lastly, I got amazing prices on fleece blankets from Big Lots, Rite Aid & Wallgreens.  They LOVE their (probably 20 or so) blankets.

I’ve done OK with supplies. I’ve also spent money unneccessarily on numerous litterboxes.

I got the tiles for my rabbit area for $25 (AU$) it did 6 square metres, a large covered litterbox for $15 because it had a broken flap which I didn’t need anyway. I bought a pen for $60 and also got a sturdier one for free that came with my 2nd rabbit. I don’t use either of them that much but they’re handy to have. I also got 2 ceramic dishes that came with him. The rest of the stuff is repurposed things from around home and stuff I get at $ stores.

Hamsterkeet, I love your illustration. Well done!
i only have one bargain to report: my litter. I shred it using plain corrugated cardboard and so it’s free.

You’ve kept this up Petzy?! I’m impressed!

I’ve actually reverted to newspaper + hay in the litterboxes for now. Plus a bowl of vinegar in the room to help with any odours. I do use wood pellets though for their box in the main living area.

Tupperware drinking bowl right now – he has a nice crock but got left in the move, so waiting on it in the mail. The tupperware worked just as well, just no mount ot the side of the cage.

Also got 2 cat treat balls from Peco for $3. Just the right size to put pellets in with a bit of short hay pieces to keep it from coming out too quick. Add bunny. Only way I have managed to get him to play with anything, by putting food in it. Sigh.

I give credit to Catalina.. (where are you?) for this wonderful idea!

Please don’t mind the hay mess. Ikea plastic bag dispenser, $1.99.

My bunny loves to pull the hay out of the holes. She is a picky hay eater, indeed!
I filled it up 3/4 full last night and came downstairs this morning to give her breakfast pellets and the hay was down to 1/4. I’m happy that no hay gets into her water bowl (I switched the pellet bowl and water dish) anymore.

I may have to get one of those too…or several! Hay is just so hard to contain! The pen looks great, and you can’t beat a good deal!

Brittany is that a maze haven or minihaven?

                              Nice setup!

I actually have one of those in my home, pre this discovery. But I use if for my plastic bags. Of which we go through many, between 2 cats, a rabbit, and a rat cage, which all get regular scoopings (every 2 days). I didn’t know it came in pink…. maybe I do need to get another.

                                Thanks
There used to be a second floor but I broke the hinges that hold it in place with the kennel I haven’t gotten around to purchasing a new one yet.

The haven in the kennel is the mini maze haven. My bunny likes to sleep in there…

The bag dispenser comes in white and pink

My boss gives me a Target gift card at Christmas so I load up on NIC cubes! I ran into him one time with my cart full and he couldn’t believe I was so happy to have so much shelving until I sent him photos of the condos later.
