Smudge is silly. She’s been playing with a towel all day, pushing it from one side of her pen to the other. She seems to like her towel

Saw a friend of mine today (Saturday) that I haven’t seen in over 4 years. She drove down friday night with her hubby for a little getaway trip, and came to visit me on her way through Was great seeing her again. We were great friends back when I was in Canada, did almost everything together. I’ll have to make a trip up there sometime soon too.

I went to a kind of cooking/tupperware party thing today. In the heat. *ugh* Our renters were holding it, and I didn’t want to disappoint them, but normally I don’t do this kind of stuff.

Still, I think I’m going to at least wind up with a new cookie press. Nummy spritz cookies this Xmas. Haven’t had those since I was a kid.

I have so many birthdays and at least one wedding anniversary (not mine) to commemorate this month. Going to be busy for me, with that and getting the boy back to college by the 27th. (his sister was hoping we could get him in earlier)

Haha, I’m so glad that Oliver likes to be petted… I have two hedgehogs who hate being touched. I don’t know what I’d do if all three of my pets were hands-off.

I didn’t really do anything today. Sunday is my only day off from running, and my work was closed, so I went to the laundromat (joy) and cleaned the hedgehog cages. My girlfriend’s kid sister came over to meet Oliver. She was obnoxious with him (high-pitched babytalk and getting all up in his face…ugh) but Oliver tolerated it and even climbed into her lap for pets. He is such a good boy! Right now he’s watching Criminal Minds (loveee that show!) with me. I’m on the couch and he’s all stretched out beside his litterbox. I swear he listens to the TV!

tomorrow afternoon we are leaving to go up north to our other home ( its on a lake!) for a whole month! and the buns get to come! the other day when i let the buns roam my room lulu decided to jump into the waste basket to get some nom noms ( there was dirty hay in there) but when she jumped in she noticed she was to big so she got stuck sitting on her hind legs! she made a squeak and hopped out! poor baby! ( but i got to admit it was a little funny!)

I’ll have to be sure the apartment is presentable, so i don’t have to be all worried about pics It’s a disaster zone right now… hay everywhere, unpacked boxes everywhere, stuff that was pulled out of boxes but never found a home… bah! Want house please.

My summer is dwindling away and I was going to do so much to my house to make it more livable for all creatures involved. It’s sure been too hot this last few days to get anything accomplished though. Mostly just a nasty bummy bath for poor Pippy today.

Hi, fellow apartment dwellers. Brittany, I am jealous of: 1. your visit with Monkey menagerie and 2. your waking up refreshed on a day off.
I am on day 2 of my weekend, woke up @ 5:30 yesterday and that was it so I got the sunday paper and did errands and was done and wiped out by 10:30. Slug fest for the rest of the day, ie. making video of Sammy’s cage.

But today I am going to a new Dr. appointment for a check up. I am nervous. I don’t need to see a doc, but my former doc’s office staff messed up filling a prescription for the hundredth time and I am so fed up with dreading even calling them that when my pharmacist gave me 30 days to tied me over while shopping for a new doc, I did. A work friend loves this person I’m seeing this morning, so what the heck. My arm has been sore for months, and if I like my doc, I may actually get it treated.

Enough of the downer talk, Who wants to win the lottery and share it with BB? I think we need to schedule a group BB Alaskan cruise. Do bunnies get seasick? Maybe the house rabbit society can book a national conference in South Florida and we can all meet there. As an apartment dweller I am short of cash, but wouldn’t it be grand to be in the same hotel with Jersey and MM and Brittany and Monkey and Sarita and and and and….? Someone call Oprah and tell her deserving bunnies around the world need a vacation.

I would still go to work, I’m fortunate in that I love my job. But go in late. everyday.

Ooooo. Born and raised for a time in MA. Are you going to Boston, the city, or surrounding areas?

In Boston, must see the Commons. Go on a swan boat. Very pretty gardens and leisurely tour of them via boat ride. Now that Legal Seafood is a chain it’s not the hot restaurant it used to be, and expensive with a long wait, but always good. Are you going into Cambridge? Harvard Square is fun. Go to the Harvard Coop for clothes, college style, books and posters.

Back in Boston you have to check out Fanuel Hall. It’s 3 long buildings with food stalls, things to buy, and generally fun browsing up and down. Inside and out. In fact, eat there. Don’t bother with a restaurant, just pick out what strikes your fancy.

Boston and MA is known for loving ice cream and fudge. Get some. And Sam Adams beer is still a local brewery, so I don’t know where it is but it’s always a good drink choice.

Walk around outside the commons where the older streets are cobbled and it’s more historic.

I adore Newbury Street. It’s pretty, upscale, arty, and a lovely walk from end to end. Lots of galleries. Also TGIF can be found there for a quick bite. There used to be a cute health food restaurant at the Mass Pike end, across from a nice used book store. Depends on what you like to do.

Cambridge also had, on the northern end of Harvard Square, an old cemetary on the street with some famous folks in it. Then there’s the Longfellow house which is historic and used to allow visitors in just up the street.

One more thing: The Boston Museum of Fine Arts is one of the best in the country, is doable in a half day, has a cafe and gift shop, and some of the best permanent exhibits I’ve ever seen. If you love Renoir, contemporary art, or egyptian mummies, it’s a great visit. Not too tiring.

This is the best time of year to go. Have fun!!!

Pam: thanks so much for the advice!! We’ll be staying on a house boat near Bunker Hill and do plan on spending a day at Harvard. I’m very interested in the museums, so I’m sure we’ll go to the Museum of Fine Arts. I keep hearing about Legal Seafood, so I guess that’s a must. And we’re big beer enthusiasts, so hopefully we can make some time to tour Sam Adams or Harpoon. I’ll definitely add all those things you suggested to the list too! Thank you so much! =)

It will depend on his personality too, like Monkey likes to climb, Moose is a lazy boy, etc.

Either way, it will be awhile, looks like I’ll have Smudgie here for a bit.

hmph  well dad said i can’t have smudgie-poo.. she sounds so adorable.. is so cute. even makes ‘mmm mmm’ noises (according to lesley).

dad is willing to pay for my school when the house gets sold, and he said when we move out and i finish school, i can get another bunny.. medical assistants make decent money. he just wants me to be able to pay for all of the expenses for having 2 bunnies. he doesn’t pay for anythiing for chacha. once in a while he will volunteer to buy veggies, but that is about it

i do want another nethie friend for chacha.. nethies are so cuties  i can’t speak proper english when it comes to cute bunnies

If I won the lottery, I’d fence in my entire lot with game fence for my dogs and in the center I build a bunny mansion with AC and heating and room for me too. The mansion would also have a barn part for hay where the dogs would sleep too…. It would be like a guest house. I would get my hair done every day by a professional… and then I’d travel to Texas to rebond Lola with her gang and cement them in a bunny bungalow in kralspace’s yard…
Oh, I’d buy myself a car that really drives when I need it to.

We lived in Oregon for 9 years, about 200 miles south of Monkeybun. Moved back to Michigan cause we missed snow, but now Michigan has the nation’s highest unemployment rate. If I won the lottery, I’d buy health insurance for the family. Ours ran out last month after 18 months of lay-off. Anybody need a secretary? Can’t wait for Husband to get home from his month-long business trip with our new bun, coming from a friend in Missouri who got stuck with it. It’s apparently some sort of lop, white with spots. Husband has been opposed to getting another bunny after the last of our died 3 years ago, but suddenly gave in. After 25 years of marriage, he still surprises me!

Lintini, SERIOUSLY?  ARGH!!!  

I’m getting really anxious/nervous for tomorrow.  I’m starting school at a technical college tomorrow to *hopefully* start a career in real estate.  I haven’t had a job for 2 years and have developed anxiety over the years because I haven’t been in different situations.  I get sick to my stomach and my heart pounds out of my chest, my hands shake; it’s just terrible.    So I’ve been saying to myself over and over “I can do this, I’ll be ok” but when tomorrow comes I’m just not sure.  My doctor gave me a sample of anti-anxiety pills to take but I opted to do this myself, I gotta get through this on my own (with the help of my husband).  I’m not sure my parents feel like I can do this because when I tell people I want to be a real estate agent they don’t believe me because I’m pretty shy.  But I want to get out of my shell and I really can talk to strangers just fine, I just can’t talk to different relatives (don’t ask my why I just don’t know).  So hopefully I can do this *crosses fingers*  My first class is Real Estate Finance, it’s only 4 days.  I go every weekend from 10-3pm and it’s only 3 months long for all the classes.  I already have a job for a realty company as soon as I finish and take the test.  Wish me luck!!  (I’ll need it!)

Britt – ya I know…

We have a huge shop vac in the garage….and I drug it into my room and almost vacumed out my entire room!!! The suction is SUPER strong and I was able to get all the hay out of my room that the normal vaccum wasn’t getting! Omg my room looks spotless right now….I should take a photo!!! I got the new sheets on the bed and new pillow cases…wish me luck with that one. lol. I got all the poops out of the mansion cage that were stuck in the wire/base and got all the hay mess out of Buns closet abode. Smells great in here now and ahhhhhs ooooo clean ahhhhh. *swoon*. Lol. Everybunny is happy

I am so exhausted…got up at 6am, got ready for work, took my dogs for their hour walk..took care of critters then went to work, scrubbed the mud off the walls of 19 kennels, just about Murdered Toby and Chaos(labs) because they kept body slamming me and ramming through every door when I needed to get Frank(boxer) and Barney(basset) inside because they were going home early. then once we oepned again I manned the front and like every new dog comming in showed up to check their dogs in at the same time…in addtion to daycare dogs going home and grooming dogs getting picked up and the phone was ringing off the hook, seriously I was like handing forms to the new people, while talking on the phone, and fetching daycare dogs and taking payments from grooming clients all at the same time, then some of my employees came in for the evening shift and I was like “you write this reciept”, “you tag those dogs”, “you set up a kennel for this dog”,”no, I dont care where you put them, find a spot, set it up, get them out of here”..like a half hour after things clam down and suddenly remeber that I talked to someone on the phone during this…she was bringing her dog in tommorow just for the night..its a regular, I didnt rwrite it down..and wracking my brain trying to remeber who I talked too lol then I finally remebered it was for Yogi! so I went home with a horrable headache, completly burned out, falling asleep in the car. oh ya and the dogs were SOOO loud today, like horrable loud, usually once all the double doors are shut its not bad but the sound was resounding so much that when I was trying to take a new booking on the phone I couldnt go ANYWHERE in the entire building inside or out and hear a single word she said, I felt soooo bad because I had to have her repeat everything a good 20 times(not exadurating) and I still dont think I got it right.

I have this website on house rabbits with lots of info, especially on the social nature of bunnies. And now all of a sudden, I am getting really rude e-mails from breeders who claim I have no knowledge to write this, that it is animal abuse et.c

And on top of this, I am stressing out about Karl and Freddie not getting along at all, and now the fact that Freddie has E. Cunuculi, and I cannot remember when I have NOT been miserable the last few weeks over the bunnies.

Why can’t I just live in a country where it is normal to have house rabbits and where people can just accept it, and not be rude to others who have a different opinion on the matter? I am so upset right now.

aww karla Rabbits are considered too disposable to too many places unforintinatly..you really have to get a thick skin with these guys, I mean the amount of times when Kari was sick that I got “rabbit stew” jokes or “just snap its neck” comments all from otherwise extremly caring sensitive people?

Thanks guys. I have replied politely to all of them now, although very brief providing them with links to http://www.rabbit.org and told them what books to read.

And now I am changing the contact info on the website, saying I am very happy that a lot of breeders lately have been interested in the website and that they all share that rabbit behaviour and house rabbits is new knowledge to them. I am happy that they have found my website, as all of this information has been “hidden” on foreign websites so far, where it has been common knowledge for many years, and it is only now finally being spread here as well. But that I unfortunately not have time to explain the dynamics of rabbit nature in details to each individual, so if any breeders are interested, they should read the following books, and then I list all the house rabbit books.

@Ski – GoodLuck! Just starting the course should help your anxiety levels a whole lot! So much of the fear is the false stuff created in our heads. So much of it falls away when you get out there and do what you want to do. So hooray for taking this big step girl!! You know a lil help with a pill (or even rescue remedy) wouldn’t hurt in the beginning…

 

Thanks guys and thanks jersey!  Well my friend takes the same pills (I only got a 2 week sample from the dr.) and she (and my dr.) said it takes a few weeks to feel the difference and I only had a few days.  So I road it out and didn’t take anything but I tried to prepare myself mentally by imagining going into the school and sitting down in class over and over again.  I guess it worked a little because I wasn’t nearly as nervous as I was last year for jury duty…plus my husband drove me and he was with me all morning to help me get through my anxiety.  Once I got in the classroom I felt pretty good.  I’m taking Real estate finance   It doesn’t seem hard if you’re just taking this as a high school class but I need to know all this for the test so it feels more like LOL!  It’s hard because you have to go through almost 14 chapters (the teacher said the last 2 aren’t important) in 3 days!!  The classes are only on the weekends.  So next Sat. we go through the last few chapters and Sun is the test (open book though).  It’s a little intimidating to tell you the least but I really want to do this and don’t want to let myself down.  I think if I study hard enough I can do this.  I don’t want to give up after one class.

Phew, finally tranced chacha.. now, I can trim her nails by myself now.

Now, to NOM on the tacos!

well its about darn time…the bird food I ordered in JUNE finally arrived this morning! yup, it shipped out in june from the US, hit customs on July 8th and stayed in customes until Aug 8th apperently. seriously what the heck was so terrifying about bird food that it took customs a MONTH to approve? it was the same darn bird food I have ordered before from the same place without any problem whatsoever lol last week I contacted customs and was like “WTH??” and poof, suddenly the package gets passed through and shows up at my door lol

Summer fun! Been really busy. My bf was on vacation last week. We went to the zoo, a yearly tradition since our first summer together and I was so excited to see that they got new Capybaras! I LOVE Capybaras and they went away for a few years but now they are back! They also have a big rabbit area with 5 bunnies, mixed breeds and one Californian and it’s a really nice set up for them, you should see the tunnels and burrows they have made!!! Also went river tubing which is soo much fun! We have a beautiful river about 2 hours away and you can take trips down it! It’s so thrilling!

Anyone see Dinner for the Shmucks? It was soo funny! I love Steve Carrel! Those little mice are sooo cute…okay they are dead but still cute because I know they are not real or else Peta would have torn the director a new one

Excited this morning to see lots of veg in my garden! I”ve been too busy to tend it but lots of stuff is getting real big! My Romaine crop flopped, not sure why, it usually does really well but I have carrots, endive, cucumbers, yellow and green beans and snow peas. Yummy!

Anyone from or have been to Vermont? I’m planning a fall trip there to see the Morgan Horse Museum and want to know what else there is to do and see.

you know your dog is spoiled when…he isnt feeling well so when you look outside and its pouring rain and your dog doesnt want to go out, you locate an umbrella and follow your dog around the yard holding an umbrella over him while you are getting totally drenched by the downpour. yup, such a hard difficult life my dogs live lol

Lucky bunnies you have, JG! Did they like them then? I wish I were the type who would do such a thing. I hate being in the kitchen. I get bored straight away and I have no creative sense when it comes to ingredients – lucky me, I have always had boyfriends who were great in the kitchen and would do the cooking every night!

I like making things but I always end up burning them or messing up the way you put in the ingredients (if they have to go in a specific order).
Those cookies look yummy though!

lol yeah after I posted the pic I thought they looked a bit suss.

I read the recipes that people have posted before and usually think I couldn’t be bothered….but this week I got inspired. I have some others I made without the sweet potato and they love them. Very crunchy and the hay is not as fine. I froze what I didn’t use then blended some sweet potato (didn’t have pumpkin). This came up more like a dough. They haven’t tried these yet but if they can still smell banana I think they’ll eat them. If not, I’ll package them off for Lintini to eat.

LOL  Well, she did think they looked yummy, so it would be really kind of you!

I feel like I just did homework..a bunch of the gerbil babies are at at age where their temperments need evaluated, so I sat down with a bin, my hand, a climbing object and a climb in object, grabbed a notbook and pen. graded their reactions to everything, then wrote up a breif overview of each one. I graded 14 pups..now I know how teachers feel lol, thats not even all of them either, there are 5 upstairs I need to test and grade, plus another 10 that will need graded soon.

Today was my 2nd garage sale. I didn’t make as much as last time, but more stuff was bought so that means less stuff when my dad and I move

My dad might have arthritis, but he is SO STUBBORN to go to the doctor  UGH. He is paying for health insurance for a reason ya know?  Arthritis runs in the family… getting old just sucks. My dad isn’t that old either

I will be calling to the school that I will be attending early next year. I will be calling to make an appoinment with the counselor to see what needs to be done to prepare

I got a B on my Real Estate Finace Test, I passed the class yay!!    Our teacher got a text from his wife that a computer was on sale for really cheap that she needed and so he left to go get it really quick.  As soon as he left people were asking for answers and this one woman was so loud (she’s a loud talker anyways and really annoying) I litteraly couldn’t concentrate!  I kept reading the questions over and over.  This one woman left the room to take the test.  I tried to take it in the classroom but it just got so loud that I got fed up.  I took my book (it was open book) and test and left the room.  So I passed the test without cheating I was very proud of myself!  I mean how are you suppose to pass the state exam when you can’t even take an open book test by yourself.  The teacher came back and we told him it was too loud in there for us.  I’m so glad that one woman only has one more class with us, gosh she is just so darn annoying.   The guy behind me wouldn’t even look up the answers he was asking everyone else for them

Jersey: I know it’s frustrating ….when I get upset at something like that I try to do something good back, like posting about grid cages to people who are looking for a rabbit PETSTORE cage on craigslist …thankfully a lot of people do this very often, and emailing them all the info, I do often get ‘thank yous’. I just always remember that little cage I got little Indy out of and I really beat myself up sometimes that I didn’t take more of his brothers/sisters home. Or at least take them with me and rehome them instead of leaving them there. Blah. As he poops on my bed. Thanks Indy. Leaves one little turd…LOOK Ma I WAS HERE! Anyways…I dunno it’s hard, but we can try making little differences in all sorts of little ways. I’m gonna borrow my dad’s truck tomorrow and see if the local shelter would like bale of hay for their buns. I got a nice check back from taxes yaaaaay!

Yea it’s gonna last a bit, but I save so much money by getting it off BB I feel spoiled, the local feedstore doesn’t carry it ..they didnt call me back about ordering it for me…and the chain stores are double the price of BB. Bee did a face plant into the filled dish of pellets she was so happy to get them lol.

I dunno there are so many bad things that go on in the world, sometimes the little good things can just add up, even just a simple email to someone who might be wasting 100 bucks on a tiny 2×2 cage, and showing them how they can construct a mansion with grids for ~30$. It’s a good day.

Lintini — I just wanted to say that I think you are a wonderful and caring person. You have a great attitude and I feel really old saying this but I wish that more young people thought the way that you do. I also think it’s great that you get a little extra money and you want to help buns in need instead of things for yourself. That is just so cool and I just wanted to let you know.

yesterday was such a bad day at work that my manager left early because she couldnt take it. in a matter of a few hours-3 dog fights, a cat died and a dog ate the wall. they were not bad fights, nobody got hurt, just a lot of noise..every single fight caused by people who refuse to neuter their dogs. just because your intact male is just dandy even with his nuts, does not mean that other dogs feel the same way. then people get annoyed that there perfectly friendly intact male doesnt get to play with everyone..ya that because the other dogs smell an intact male and attack on sight! most daycares dont allow intact males on the premisis at all. then a kitten died, she was fine the first few days, then yesterday AM she didnt look so good, so called the owner then took kitten to the vet, they did everything they could but she was not responding to anything, they ended up putting her down. by the symptoms they think it make have been either some kitten disease(forget) or feline luekima. ya, because that exactly what we need in a kennel!! but the vet said either one could only be contracted through the feces or salvia kind of thing, so her litter and litterbox and litter scoop went in the trash, her toys went in the trash, her dishes and cage were sterilized..while I was doing this I heard an odd sound comming from the indoor play yard, it wasnt a fight or anything, and getting everything sterilized to prevent the other cats from getting sick was priority, so I finnished what I was doing then went to look…..the dogs scattered from the scene of the crime…a great big HOLE in the wall.

I would starve and buy food for my bunny if I had to..

I regret taking Saturday to work… I want to be home. I’m sore from working out

Ive been looking out the window on and off since about 4:30 and it is not almost 6.  There is a bunny right out our back window and it’s been sitting there the whole time.  Maybe one of the babies that was in our yard before (if it is, man it got big!).  It just hopped a little but it’s pretty alert and I’m suspecting it’s keeping watch of something….  I think we may have another bunny nest in our yard guys!    Probably the same place the last one as at, in our overgrown garden that is in desperate need of fixing.  But if there’s a nest in there it’s going to have to wait…again.  I’ve been kind of bummed since the rabbit in our brother-in-laws had to be put down (I have a post about that).  But seeing this wild bunny in our yard has put a smile on my face today.   

I had a smile put on my face today too. Was packing hay for Rabbit Advocates today, and the lady that hosts it brought out Bandit, a little bunny she rescued, to play in the garden when we were done. This bunny is so lucky… she had to have her left hind leg amputated due to a horrid injury, was chased and caught by dogs, had her right ear torn up… and she is such a sweetheart. She gets to have garden playtime because she can’t really get enough traction on the indoor carpet to run. But once outside, she just goes. Cutest little thing And she loooves people. Hops up to you for pets and everything Such a sweetie, after all she has been through. Evelyn is such a sweetheart too, for taking care of her and the other bunnies she has rescued. All her little buns are special needs, for one reason or another. And all are so loved by her
