Ok, so it’s now 3:30pm and her appointment is at 6:40.

What Should i bring with her? she doesnt have blankets or toys anything in her cage but we do have a bunny blanket that they used to play with and she has toys i give her at play time.

Also should i let her run around before i take her? Or no?

I’ve never taken her or Twix to the vets but hershey likes going places and meeting new people.. especially on the bus (my moms driving us but i’ve taken her to the mall with me before, and she loved it.)

I threw out my bunny carrier because it broke and the cat carrier is a big dog transport thing so should i bring her in that or just a box?

So any help would be appreciated..

thanks so much for all the healing vibes and i pray to god i come home with a live bunny.

is your carrier like a puppy carrier or is it an actual huge dog carrier? if it is a big dog carrier i would take her in a box or something.

Will your mom let you take them both in together? If they are bonded, it’s sometimes good for both to go in so they can comfort each other. I would use the pet carrier and put a blanket and some hay in it.

You will come home with a live bunny! It costs alot of $ to put down a pet! Don`t worry about it! I don`t think hershey needs actual sergury, like to be put under while they work on him! That`s what costs alot! I am really hoping & praying for you and hershey! All will be fine!

If they are not bonded- do NOT take them together.  There is no reason to take both.  Do you have both of the rabbits together sometimes?  A bite wound can start an abscess.  If you were going to be able to bond them- I might suggest taking both- but if they are both unspayed- then do not take Twix along.

I would recommend taking her in a secure container- either a cat carrier, etc.  I am not crazy about the idea of a box as it is not as secure as a plastic carrier.  I work at a clinic and have seen the horror stories of many cats escaping their owners before they even get them into the clinic- and a rabbit would certainly be able to do the same.

I agree, the box is not a good idea – it’s dark, it could be hot and it’s not secure. It’s not the rabbit at the vet you have to worry about – it’s the other curious animals so being safely contained is important.

Yes, don’t take them together if they aren’t bonded.

Do you have a harness? You coudl put her in that and hold her if you don’t have a carrier.
Iff you have to do a box, you want to be holding it (so she doesn’t escape) and cut good size holes in teh sides and top for her, maybe put a frozen water bottle wrapped in a towel if it’s hot.

                        Good luck.

Even though the pet carrier is big, that would be my first choice.

Just put hay in there for both eating and lining in case she pees. Also you can bring water in a bottle and a little dish if it’s a long ride. (like over an hour.)
She needs to see the vet so toys aren’t necessary.
                          Hershey will get better.

the ride was only 10 mins max.. and that was with my mom turning right instead of left. i wasnt goung to take twix ar all guys i was saying i havent taken either to the vet before so i didnt know what to bring.. sorry for the misunderstanding..

anyways! since it was a short drive and the carrier is HUGE she was in a box.. witch was fine.. its what she’s used to.. everytime i take her places (in a car) she’s in a box on my lap. she always has a harness on when out of her cage so she had a harness and leash.

Oh I’m sorry Mir! I must have confused you with someone else with a bonded female pair! I thought they lived together.

The harness might be the suspect! If the harness is on her chest, I wonder if that is irritating the area? Maybe it rubbed somewhere and that got Hershey started with overgrooming the area?

I would never take a dog crate that huge on a vet trip for a bunny. If it’s for a newfie x it must be 40″ long. It wouldn’t even fit in the backseat. I would have just taken her in her regular petstore cage.

                                Any news about Hershey?

                                  its ok,

the harness couldnt be whats bugging it, see, i bought her a special harness when she got her dewlap because she was getting out of the other one.. this one doesnt even touch her dewlap it goes around her neck under her chin. its a chihuahua harness. :p
