k so my baby coraline um has 2 bald spots on her shoulders almost as if she ripped it our herself. is that normal? they are little spots but i dont want her to keep doing it. also since she lives by herself should i even bother to have her fixed? i mean  if i one day get her a buddy i would, but being by herself (and her best stuffed friend ^^) i dont see a point.

The main reason for spay is this: there is an 80 to 85% chance your little girl will get uterine cancer by age 4. Which would end in a very painful and needless death. So it really is in her best interest to get her spayed ASAP.

Unspayed females do tug out fur now and then, they sometimes get what we call a false pregnancy, they think they are going to have babies but don’t. They pull out the fur to line their nests with before giving birth. My foster bunny Smudge did that, and she wasn’t pregnant. It’s a hormonal thing, and will likely stop after getting her spayed.

i see. well i’ll keep that in mind but it might take me a while to find a vet that knows what they are doing with bunnies. had bad past experiences with some vets around here. gotta find the right one or i may not have a bunny anymore…..dont want to deal with that again.

Here is some more info about why to spay your bunny –  http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/spay-neuter.html

And you are right that finding the right vet is important.  They must be rabbit-savvy.  Here is a great place to start– includes screening questions and the correct answers.

There are a few Florida members here. One of them may know a vet in your area

Yes, I was just going to say this… also, one of our forum leaders is in Florida.  If you can post your general area or city, we might be able to help you further.  Or you can click on any of our “FORUM LEADERS” names at the top of the screen and email us directly thru there.  Rabbitpam is the one in Florida.
