Just a quick question. My bunny book says it is fine to give rabbits toilet paper or paper towel rolls to play with. They are card board  right? So… I gave on to Annabell today and she started to play with it/ nibble on it. Is it safe for her to literally eat it? I thought she would just tear it up and chew on it, not actually eat it. I mean I am not totally certain that she is yet but I dont want her to get sick if she does eat some of it. Also, what is the story on pellets? I fill her bowl up every day but it isnt like she eats them all. Should I be cutting back on what she is getting? She seems to be growing so fast!

They will eat cardboard and paper and it’s fine as long as it’s not the only thing she’s eating. Mine eat all kinds of paper and pull strips off cardboard and eat it. Just don’t let her have plastic, tape, or magazines.

How old is your bunny? I know there are specific amounts to give based on age. If she has plenty of hay, maybe try just giving her half a bowl full if she’s still growing. Growing buns need more food than adults.

Generally, if she doesn’t empty the bowl while she’s young, you’re giving her too much. Just feed what she will eat, and as she gets older, start cutting down on the pellet amount. If she’s under 6 months, free feeding is still fine, but theres no sense in filling the bowl each day if she ignores it.

Thanks so much for the feedback. She is still under six months so I guess I will keep going as is for now. She seems to be interested in everything that she isnt allowed to chew on as opposed to the 7 or 8 toys/ items she is allowed to chew on. Any tips to get her interested in bunny friendly chewables?

Chewing and eating cardboard is ok and perfeclty normal, as long as she’s eating enough hay too.
