        Hi everyone!!

I have a problem…I was running out of the old version of the Papaya treats so I bought the new one’s thinking they would be the same as the old with maybe a slight change.  Well I just go them today and went to give Beeslee her treat, the new one, she sniffed took it in her teeth and then I swear spit it out like someone was spitting a cherry pit out!  So I said ok maybe she wants a smaller peace so I cut it into 1/4 peices instead of 1/2….nadda!  She wants nothing to do with this new version!!!  Has anyone else had their buns reject the new version and if so what did u do to replace the old version?  Does anyone know where I can get papaya tablets with no sugar for humans?  This treat at night was my favorite bc she so looks forward to it at night when I lock her up in her xpen.  She gets so excited she almost does binkies!!  Now she’ll think I’m a bad mom   I only have a few left of the old…OMG  what am I going to do!!!!!!!!!!

I also want to thank BinkyBunny for getting my order out so quickly…she loves her pine cones!

You could always try dried papaya, instead of tablets. My regular grocery store only carried the sugared kind, but I was able to find a no-sugar added papaya at a gourmet grocery store.

I have had mixed reviews on the newest Papaya Tablet changes. Oxbow made the change to make them healthier, with less sugar, and some bunnies are not happy with this less sweet version. I had written to Oxbow about this and they told me it can take time for bunnies to get used to it. So I decided to put that to the test with Jack and Vivian as they went bonkers over the original…but now they reject the new version when I first give it, but somehow, by morning, somebunny has eaten it. Strange. Either that or they have hidden it somewhere or thrown it down the sink when I wasn’t looking. LOL

Other people have no problem with it and their bunnies love it, but I am finding with this product – a mixed bag of reactions.

Ya I bought the tablets from you BB and my buns don’t like them at all. Bagheera will try them only if he thinks he is starving to death though. Mine love plain ‘ol dried papaya. lol

Mine will eat the new tablets, but not with the same amount of unbridled joy as which they ate the old ones.

It’s kind of like… “Oooh treat! *Sniff*…. ooohhhh… thooose treats. Oh well. I guess I gots to eat something…”

They used to outright reject them, but they’ve come around.

Thank you everyone. Well she eats them now but only if I leave them in her xpen they magically disappear by the next morning. B still won’t eat them from my hands and there is no joy anymore for the treat :<(((((((((( I will have to look into some other means of getting her and my enjoyment back…hmmmm. On a mission to find another healthy but yummy treat….

Elrohwen – I will try to find those…they actually sound yummy!
Binkybunny- LOL I can just see the buns helping each other to get to the sink to flush them down…lol. I to contacted Oxbow as well but they had me talk to a buns therapist/whisperer. She gave me some great advice but none of it worked when I tried it :<(
Lintini – I think Beeslee is the same way
Beka27 – I will still give Beeslee the 1/4 at night and hope she comes around as well but I’m going to be the problem bc I soooo miss the “I love you mom..nom nom nom now let me do a few binkies!”

I’m interested to hear that they are coming around. I missed out on the old one that everyone raved about, but was able to witness my bunny reject the current tablets.

In 50 years they will come out with a new study declaring that sugars, white flour and fats were the most healthy things we could have eaten, and all of us dieting screwballs were wrong. grumble grumble
