So every morning when my husband gets up, he gives Hatter a craisen. Then when I get up (about 2 – 3) hours later I give Hatter his morning banana piece cut up. Hatter has always gone crazy for the banana piece but this morning he completely ignored it!  I called my husband and he said that Hatter ate his morning craisen. Also, he has good looking poops inside his litterbox and yesterday he was eating normal. I looked around and there was nothing that seemed chewed up.

Could he possibly have just lost his flair for banana? I felt his tummy and it didn’t feel hard or anything…

Sometimes my rabbits ignore their treats.

As for feeling the tummy, you really have to know where the stomach is and really palpate it to know what you are feeling. If you ever watch the vet do this they really feel around – the next time you are in ask your vet to show you how to do this and where to feel.

I think I would just watch him and if he’s eating otherwise and pooping, I wouldn’t worry too much.

I agree with Sarita. Keep an eye on him, but I wouldn’t get panicky just yet.

If he’s eating other stuff fine, I wouldn’t worry about it.  If it makes you feel any better, my bun won’t touch ANYTHING except for greens, carrots, hay, and pellets.  No fruit.  No raisins.  I tried banana chips (they’re dehydrated and such), and nope, no go.  I may try a commercial rabbit treat sometime (if he only gets one per day, no biggie), but for now he’s content with all his “healthy” options.

So, Hatter is eating his hay like normal. He also pooped again and again (to me) they look normal. I did collect some though and put it in a plastic baggie JUST incase he had to make a trip to the vet.

Thank you guys for your replies! It’s so nice to know that there are others who go through what you go through….

Hatter would just like to try some apple or blueberries and says he’s had enough banana
Glad to hear it was just bunnypickiness
