Sorry but I can’t remember, is she spayed?  Or old enough to be spayed?  If so that may help.

Otherwise, Zeus never sprays his pee, but he was having frequent accidents outside his litterbox.  But it ended up that the problem was his litterbox was too shallow, and when he backed into the corner to pee, his butt would hang out, and thus.. accident.  I switched him to a deep litterbox (it’s actually a dishpan/dish tub), and no more pee outside the box!

Is the paper what you are using for litter? I think you might want to consider changing that. Also you could try draping the condo with an old sheet that would cover the area where she sprays on the wall. That way she would hopefully spray the sheet which you can throw in the wash.

That looks like a full size cat box but seriously I think you need to use real litter – I imagine that the paper does not absorb the urine and when she gets out of the box she may be kicking some of the urine out.

Do you mean you are putting her bowl of pellets in there? I think I would try to put her pellets out of the box otherwise she is going to think that is how it should be and it really should not be. Hay is okay but not veggies or pellets.

That’s what I would do. Even though she’s still young you want to try get her to a more normal routine – you will have to be more diligent with the litter training but it’s really the right way to train her.

I don’t think it would be a problem with her roaming since she knows to go to the litterbox. I’m not sure if she will be confused about going to the bathroom with the food outside the box but she might which is why you will need to watch that she doesn’t pee or poop while she’s eating and put her in the box right away. What you also might want to do is after she eats put her directly in the box so she understands that is what she is supposed to do.

I ditto Sarita here. She could be flicking urine as she gets out the box. Something that wicks away the pee faster would help. The BB store sells a screen you can sit over the litter so buns can’t eat it. Put something as a barrier between the wall and cage like a sheet or piece of cardboard.

She may be deliberately spraying. Both intact females & males can do this though it’s mostly males. At her age, her litter habits might be a bit challenging for a while I’m afraid. You may even have to restrict her free roam when the hormones really start to play havoc.

She looks huge for only 3 months! Are you sure she’s a mini?! My mini rex was 4 months when I got her, and she was probably half that size! How much does she weigh? Maybe the pics are deceiving?

This is going to be a rough patch between now and when she can be spayed, so you’ll just have to get used to cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning. Like the others said, draping a washable sheet/cloth, or a flattened piece of cardboard that can be thrown away when this stops, between the wall and cage will help reduce your cleaning. Get a deeper (and possibly larger) litterbox, put an inch of litter in, and that will absorb urine and odor. And you may be able to reduce the number of times you have to clean the actual box, because the litter will keep everything dry to the touch.

Be very, very careful with free roam right now. Just because she’s been good so far, at any moment those hormones can kick in, and you might not be right there to correct unwanted behaviors.

It’s been awhile since you’ve posted. Has she been to the vet yet and was her sex confirmed?
