  Hello everyone,
  
  In mid-August, I’ll bring my rabbit, Romeo, to animal shelter and let him pick which rabbit he will get along. (only if this animal shelter allow me to do that)
  
  I want to well-prepare for bonding sessions for my rabbits. Of course, I’ll read many topics of bonding sessions to give me several ideas.
  
  I have several questions.
  
  Do male rabbit have to bond with female rabbit because male rabbit dont get along with other male rabbit?
  
  I read somewhere that male rabbit can get along with male rabbit easily. Is that true?
  
  Romeo got along with cats, guinea pigs, my roommate, and ofc me! He dislike to meet new humans, that’s all.
  
  When I first introded my guinea pigs and Romeo together. Romeo never tried to bite guinea pigs or fight them.
  
  When I took my rabbit to my parents’ house for Christmas break. My parents have a cat which is belong to me.. very old cat.
  
  My cat stared at my rabbit like she never saw my rabbit before. She attacked him like using her paws on his face when rabbit came to her. Romeo didn’t fight back, he just hopped away like nothing happened.
  
  Romeo is kind of rabbit who really really want someone to groom back. For instance, I took three of my pets (Romeo and two guinea pigs) out of their cages to walk around and play on the floor. Romeo always came to my guinea pig and bend his head down to let my guinea pig to sniff his face. I dislike this idea because my guinea pig tend to bite his whiskers or fur. It made Romeo jump up but still continue to bend his head down and let my guniea pig to bite him again. I’m like NO! Romeo lost two whiskers.
  
  To me, Romeo really want to have a company with other rabbit because he is deperssing to live without company even through he felt like its worth to suffering with guinea pigs? I guess.. do you feel same way?
  
  Of course, he lick me and I pet him everyday but I felt like it is necessary to get rabbit for him to communicate and understand each other. Rabbit cannot understand guinea pigs’ language.

  It’s a good idea to read up on bonding as much as you can. Every rabbit relationship is unique, so you probably won’t be able to read about exactly how your bonding sessions will go, but it is good to be prepared.
  
  Romeo sounds like a good boy who will easily welcome other animals. However, he does understand the difference between other pets and a bunny, so he may not be as mellow once he meets a new bunny. But it is a good indicator though that he welcomes other pets like that. It proves how social he is.
  
  Right now I’m bonding two males. I’ve done that before and it was an instant bond and a deep friendship. The bonding I’m doing now however has gone wrong from the beginning, because the new bunny had only just been neutered when he met my other boy. And the hormones and the scent of an intact male was just way too much. So please make sure that if you get another boy, that he has been neutered at least 4-5 weeks prior to their meeting.

  I went to animal shelter today and I decided to adopt a rabbit name Belle. She is hollard lop and her fur looks like creme color. I played around with her and felt that she is easy going rabbit. She should be fine with my rabbit, Romeo.
  
  I cannot adopt her today because she is going to get fix trmw. Then I’ll adopt her on Tuesday.
  
  I will not bond her with Romeo until a month later.
  
  I asked the animal shelter worker to see if I have to get medical treatment for her and I was surprised that I don’t need to give her medical care if I will get her on Tuesday! Isn’t she suppose to take painless medical treatments?
  
  I think it is funny that the animal shelter worker asked me many questions like do you know that rabbit should live in big cage? Did you know that rabbit need exercise out of the cage everyday? And other questions that I already knew.
  I disturbed her and told her that I researched a lot and Romeo lives in 6 ft by 5 ft cage.
  He is on over 95 percent diet on hay and I feed him oxbow basic T.
  She said, “EXCELLENT!”
  
  So far I adopted 4 animals from same animal shelter. Never bought animals from pet stores. I must be proud that I save their lives!

  It turned out that Belle don’t need to get fixed because she was already fixed almost two years ago!
  
  She will arrive here within 30 minutes.
  
  Should I try to bond sessions Belle with Romeo trmw or few days later? Today, I want Belle feel comfortable at home and need a lot a lot a lot of groom!

  My roommate went ahead of me!
  
  He let both rabbits play out of their cages. They didn’t fight but they humped each other every time they met each other! (last time I checked, yes they are fixed. both of them)
  
  I broke them up. They didn’t bite me or anything.
  They didn’t hurt each other. They just want to hump each other, that’s all. Is that good sign?
  
  It last like 5 minutes for today.
  
  I’ll try again trmw and hopefully that they will get tired of humping each other in few weeks or less.

  I have to say that I have my rabbit for almost two years and I never see Romeo behaved like that! He was well-behaved to every animals until this!
  
  For anyone who want to bond your rabbit with new rabbit! Be prepare to see dark side from your rabbit! -_-

  Humping is normal, they are figuring out who the boss bunny is going to be! After they figure things out the humpy-ness should calm down a lot.

  The humping is a dominant thing, they are trying to figure out who will be Boss Bunny. Don’t worry about it

  Yea, I know that they are trying to show boss of each other but I wasn’t that well prepare to see like them in person instead on youtube. Too realistic for me lol.
  
  I wasn’t sure if I have to break them up if they tried to hump each other or let them be? (ofc I’ll break them up if they hurt each other)

  Belle rubbed her chin all over places. I know why she was doing this but just feel like to say it here just in case if it will relate to future bond sessions.
  Romeo was in cage while Belle hop around. Romeo was very furious or excited (I couldn’t tell the difference because he dont show emotion) to go after her.

  Congratulations on your new bunny! I think that’s great that the rescue asks a lot of questions. That shows that they really care about the bunnies and they want to make sure they are going to great homes. You’ll take great care of your new bunny and hopefully their bond will be smooth.
  
  I also think it’s fantastic that you’ve saved 4 animals from the shelter, I agree that this is something to be proud of!
  
  Not sure what you meant by your last post saying you’re “out of here for good”. I hope you do decide to stick around on Binkybunny and keep us updated about how Romeo and your new bunny get along.

  You had a question earlier that may be moot now, but when they hump, just be sure they do not hump each others’ faces, because sometimes the one underneath will bite the humper’s private parts which can be a terrible injury. Humping from behind, dominance as was said, is fine if it eventually stops or doesn’t lead to biting. So far you are off to a good start.
  Please stop by and give us progress reports on your lovely two.
